All I needed to know; there's not really much point in arguing common sense with someone who doesn't use any. I'll let you attack someone else and then call them a child by responding to you
You didn't accurately describe the thread, either. Even if you had, you could very well have done so by making a few assumptions based on broader experience with the internet and forums in general. So no, it isn't reasonable to assume you'd read the thread based on a sloppy, ham-fisted, incorrect description of its contents - especially when you said you hadn't read it.

Almost edited my post to say that, but I figured... what's the point with this guy?

yet you edited this post to say that

So yeah, you tell me what the point is! Because I don't really know, to be honest.
No, I didn't. Regardless, the point is that you're talking out of your ass here and I suspect that you know it, but lack the fortitude to cop to it. I don't expect and will not ask for an apology from you on account of your nonsense, but the least you could do is have another look at the glaring contradiction I highlighted and say candidly, without snark or snideness, which of the two statements you made is patently wrong.

If it is the first, I submit that this could have been avoided had you put an inkling of thought into what you typed. If it is the second, we are right back to the bit about you just talking out of your ass.

Get it yet?

I get it now! You misunderstanding my post + me correcting you = GLARING CONTRADICTIONS!!

And yeah you edited your post, unless a bunch of that stuff in the middle of your post magically appeared after I read it, because I definitely read it before the edit. Don't worry though, I'm not going to demand an apology ;-)

I still don't get what your point is, though. You want me to apologize because I clarified an earlier statement after you acted like a jerk? Really? Is that what all this is about?
If you went into the WIPs forum and said something like "I didn't listen to your song, but it is an unoriginal rehash of the same boring noise everyone else is trying to make with their cracked Ableton and Massive" I would have called you on it, whether it were true or not, and regardless of whether or not it would have been a statistically-safe thing to say.

As far as I am concerned, a post like that would or certainly should get a person ostracized pretty quickly from a community such as this.

The comment of yours to which I initially replied was very clear as to your having not read the thread. I didn't "misunderstand" you, I suffer only the failing of not possessing the gift of telekinesis.

If you would have made the above hypothetical comment in response to someone's having posted a work in progress, my response would be roughly the same as the one I gave to you initially. Furthermore I would hope that you would do the same if it were someone else shotgunning out baseless insults. And I wouldn't expect you to be particularly forgiving if, in response to your call-out, the perpetrator of these insults shot back some snide rubbish about how of course he listened to the song, and it is your fault for failing to make the logical leap from "I didn't listen" to "I listened" automatically.

Ok so, it might take a while, but if you all really want, I'll try to write a summary of the whole thing. Or rather, an essay on 'gain structure for n00bs/morons' :6:

Let me know if you want it and I'll stick it in my (unfeasiblystupidlybig) work queue. It might even get done this decade!

I did have another long spiel I wanted to write about doing less too... I'll do that soon. :)

u mad, bro?
I think the internet makes people come off mean sometimes. We just needa add smileys at the end of every point we make lol

And for the moneyshot thread, could you not get daft tnuc to edit his original post and put all the info in one post? That would solve the "tl;dr" problem. I think wub is very efficient with his bulleted lists, however he wouldn't even need to do it if people would just F'IN GOOGLE CHAD.

But really its just a matter of googling/looking on youtube/reading/understanding/experimenting/google dsf/reading the stickies/production bible/gearslutz(theres a thread on there where some really nice guy made a bunch of massive patches for people and explained them)/the grid/any other forums and then posting a thread.

What the shit, maybe the information should be organised first.

I definitely wouldn't say its too complicated for new producers. Probably a month (maybe less, even) into producing I looked at it, immediately went "ohh, that's why everything I've been doing sounds like shit", went into my mixer and turned everything down. Kinda just went from there. Organizing it into another format (i.e. not a thread of people talking back and forth) might be a good idea, though.
