Communautarism is a pledge
Identity doesn't have to be written somewhere, it's growing like a child

Fuck that, I really thought dubstep was far beyond "communities"
Community means you're in or you're not
Dubstep is a worldwide conscious rave made out of universal touching tunes and vibes man

Seriously, communities and production rules made d&b what it is now...
Don't do the same mistakes.

Large up to Caspa & Rusko for their talent with burning the dancefloor down - always with such nice low ends. They make me feel as good as Mike Iration, and I got tons of reminders on such good vibe tunes...

Fuck communities, fuck them forever

Hey Opti,

Can I point out that being in a community doesn't mean there has to be production rules. You seem to contradict yourself because the word commune/community means: " a social group of organisms sharing an environment, normally with shared interests."

You are dealing in the ultra-abstract here. Your conclusion that "communities" is what made dnb boring or "shit" has no material, dialectical basis whatsoever.

Its obviously production values, generics & hyper compression that made it shit for you. Not that there is a dnb "community" and thats why it turned to shit.

Dubstep wouldn't be "a genre called Dubstep" without community, what do you call a few thousand people sending 320's and mixes to each other all over the world? Its a community.

Autonomy is futile, community is well, the only way a "sound" or genre can develop and exist.

So I take it you will be quiting the forum?

my frenchie english might go pointless now and then

I meant as soon as a community tries to define its rules or philosophy, I feel it really goes into some kind of mind narrowing thing. The d&b example was here to underline the danger behind strict definitions of such abstract things as musical "genres"

I have been attracted for a long time by the global aspect of Dubstep and have always been seeking that kind of spirit in electronic music
Now I hear 808, pointless dub samples, and wobble everywhere
As soon as it doesn't turn into some kind of artistic facism, I enjoy the "community" concept.

As a record label member, I really feel danger in the following words :

- "it's made by the dubstep community for the dubstep community. and that's what makes it strong."
- "'Dubstep Ethics' thread"

Let's hope I'm wrong... let's live

Sorry for the violent and quick conclusion or offenses
