How can I make this sound even more tribal?

Post by Trichome » Tue Oct 25, 2011 10:35 am

I have this so far: (purely experimental)
Soundcloud

Anything else i try and chuck in just makes it feel wrong.
All you masters of the tribal/no kick style, gimme some production tips/point me to a thread.

Edit: i might take away the chipsound, it kinda ruins the vibe of the song

There is a WIP progress thread at the top of the board that may yield better results for this kind of enquiry;

Make the percs less repetitive, get some more progression in the actual rhythm as well.

Add some hats/one-off fills, etc, etc.

PAN!

Stereo widening and a careful choice of reverb.

Get 'Drums of War' for Kontakt maybe, it will thicken it up.
