Re: Roughberry - Dubstep\Glitch
Very original feeling it
Re: Roughberry - Dubstep\Glitch
This is just awesome. It's definitely still rough, but definitely the most original stuff I've heard today.
I am way out of my league here, I am only an amateur producer, who has started posting today, and started posting feedback today. But I have learned a few things in my studies so far, and can't help but try, perhaps my feedback can help somehow. Despite the fact that I keep just listening and enjoying instead of listening critically, I will try to come up with some.
First I think the drums could start earlier. It feels overly spartan in the beginning- or perhaps for a bit too long. The synth coming in around 0:30 could stand to be spiced up a bit- though I do like simple synths myself. I love the glitch runs - though the sound at 1:45 feels a bit out of place given the uniformity of the rest of the glitches used...
The overall low bass in the early area of the track is a bit low. You could stand to EQ up your main synth and/or the bass you are employing in the second section- or maybe add another bass heavy element in some of these areas. The runs overall seem to have lesser bass activity than the melody lines -- but you want some sub / low bass accompanying the stuff going on in the mid range at the least. I haven't listened with subs so I can't speak to what's going on in the sub bass range.
At 2:15... seriously... perfect transitioning into (well, a nod to) Kashmir... which is a pretty sweet dubstep rendition of the most recognizable part of Kashmir! I love the laid back timing on the beats and synth note transitions. Then you whip out the vocal bass and glitch it up, great.
[EDIT: Sorry, it recurs once before, but the second one is more mellow. My bad]
OK you [could] push that synth lead at 4:21 up closer to the beginning of the song or build the song out, and it's already nice and long- this is a great, emotional element in the melody you've got going, I'd say definitely use that more prominently whatever you do. And the end is a bit abrupt. But hey, WiP, right?
I will say that you have a lot of varied elements going on when you look at the song as a whole, but you manage to tie them all together and transition very nicely from one technique to the next.
OK I hope what little I can come up with is helpful. srsly. I am curious what toolchain you are using?

Re: Kundara - Roughberry (Dubstep\Glitch)
thanx guys
the bass is the same the whole track... then how come theres a problem at the beginning?
the simple synths- in purpose
It's not wip, its finished. the end is kinda break the tools and go home.
Cubase is my DAW. actually, the story of this song is testing new image-line synths. but they made only the beginning.
Massive, massive, massive, massive, sylenth
distortion - iTrash
and more and more effects
really appreciate and love the word "originality".
cheers,

No thank you!kundara wrote:thanx guys
Well, if most of your bass is coming from your main synths, then it could just be the notes being played. On a second pass though, the bass sounds perrty good when the run hits, but the first part with the new synth doesn't have much going on down there from what I can hear on my AE2s or my stereo set up. This is probably fine though, as it's the intro.kundara wrote:the bass is the same the whole track... then how come theres a problem at the beginning?

Haha, cool cool. Yeah I'm still getting the workflow of the forum down I guess.kundara wrote:It's not wip, its finished. the end is kinda break the tools and go home.
