i probably wouldnt go see a dubstep dj anyway, but who wants to go see a whole set of the same shit, i wanna go see someone who will play whatever the fuck they want, not an hour and half of the sound they were booked for.

and i dont think i have even listened to any dungeon, doesnt really sound like something id wanna listen to.

Anyway the whole subgenre thing is fucked. I don't see what's wrong with just putting an adjective of your choice in front of the word 'dubstep' - if people ask me what I play, I normally say "heavy dubstep" or "proper dubstep". Never gonna tell anyone I play "dungeon" cos they'll think I'm gay.

also, my question is self-explanatory.

dungeon doesn`t make me think it`s not worth listening to.
Happy hardcore wasn`t even enough for me to not at least give it a listen, fucking hated it but still.

Everything is becoming more and more formulaic from all ends of the spectrum and it is losing the flair that made it what it was. I'm not saying I don't like it cos I really do love dubstep and there are one or two tracks being released that still do it for me however, I find that things below 140 are exciting me a whole lot more, Swamp's releases, loads of uk funky, loads of the deeper house stuff. It all seems a whole lot more flexible and less of a bandwagon. That's what dubstep feels like to me now, you got a bunch of different bandwagons and each person from each bandwagon thinks their bandwagon is the best/freshest/more credible bandwagon. At the end of the day they all feel like bandwagons though.

It's sad, I remember how dubstep used to make me feel, I was well excited by the potential of this new emerging sound and it felt so amazing, now it just bores me. I hate that I feel this way about it though really.
I think the word 'clique' springs to mind.

Most of the stuff I am hearing these days is just slow down Neurofunk anyways, its all a bit boring!

Diversity is the only thing what makes a good mix/set - I have been dropping "dungeon" into tunes like Forever (Simon/off) and Reminising (the Geoim Dubplate mix) lately and thats a amazing blend of bounce and grit - some DJs just need to spice it up a little and stop conforming to the same washed-out sounds - thats how things over saturate.
I agree.

I agree too, a set is intresting if you mix up all difrent style in dubstep, i just don't wanne hear the more filthy side of dubstep in a mix :)
It's about dropping a track at the wrong speed, and it sounding better than the real thing.

Since day, Dungeon has only meant one thing to me.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMimeJbQmJw

Its a shame however that it may not be it's original name.
