since ancient times it has always been that when a traveling magician comes to town to show off his magical skrillex skillz the townsfolk will gather at the market square to watch in awe. when asked how he performs such mind-boggling feats the magician will always reply that he will explain it some other day, only to be never seen again.
since then, every year three weeks after the lunar solstice a new magician arrived at the town, always performing feats more impressive than the last one. entire generations of young townsfolk have wasted away their lives trying to learn the ways of the magician. some have left to search for him in foreign lands, none returned.
the town is in a horrible state. without strong men to maintain and defend it, thieves and beggars have overrun it. those few who are left are afraid to leave their houses, barely talking to each other.

these are grim times, and what we need is a hero to save us from that damned magician and the followers of his false god or else this city will drown in it's own filth!

its not a bad attempt, but its pretty far from the real thing. thats always going to be the problem trying to create another producers sound - it'll end up as a pale comparison to the original.

also skrillex's version has been mixed and mastered, so the bar is pretty high for someone to copy. nothing wrong with trying tho, helps understand the process.

there was also the haters, who's combined output was fuck all. they did nothing to help, just made fun of those trying to understand something.

i think having something that plays the same notes as something you are familiar with tricks your brain into thinking "it sounds close"
certainly not a bad effort, and not a bad bass patch, but doesnt sound anything like the orig track other than using the same notes...

just my 2 cents.

Hey guys long time since i last posted here ha.

Well ive been playing with FM8 more and realised it's probably what he made the song on.

Using the aggro patch then dicking with the FM Matrix.

I know i said I'd create a tutorial but the whole flp file is corrupted so i can't remember how i did it.

It's really not that hard but mastering is the real key.

I'd recomend putting the track to the send on the mixer then start layering up with effects.

But i originally made this on massive. And I'm pretty surprised at how good i got it. Cause I'm diffedently sure he makes it on FM8.

Anyways guys keep at it.

Aye skrillex uses FM synthesis. He's talented but because of his attitude i dont much care for him or his music. Alot of very talented people out there who aint complete butholes about it. If you want to set an aim or a goal to make music like producers, then look at Nero. In my opinion they have taken production quality to a new level. They are quite amazing, even if you dont like their songs the production quality is astounding!

His attitude? I think he comes off as a pretty chill guy, so I don't see what the problem is?

Ah from what i seen when he first started out, loved his music but the way he came across was quite self glorifying in my opinion i drifted away from him, he seems to have mellowed out recently, again it's just personal opinion based on observations, everyone see's how people come across in diferent ways you may not feel the same and i really dont care cause it's not a subject i'd waste any time starting a discussion about, the point is that there are other artists people should check out if they want want to learn certain techniques, it's not a bad thing that people want to learn what he does because thats how you learn techniques but i would like to see some more people expressing interests in a diverse range of artists. Loads of talent out there the amount of skrillex forums out there must be in quadruple figures by now.
