Looking for dj's from Birmingham UK

Post by limb » Mon Jun 04, 2007 3:42 pm

I don't think there are any dubstep nights in Birmingham at the moment so I'm thinking of setting one up.

I promote a live band night at the King Edward Inn, I think the venue would do the job, they've got a big system and a good looking upstairs room.
My bro runs a drum and bass night every thursday at OC's so we could use that venue instead/aswell.

All I need is Birmingham dubstep dj's I know there must be a fair few out there and I'm sure there'd be a lot of call for it, if you look at the size of the drum and bass and the reggae scenes of Birmingham you can see how big dubstep could be in this city.

my email is murtaghchris@gmail.com

ditto^

we're only about 1/2 hour drive away. I've seen Coki play at the custard factory and they have a bit of dubstep there on the BreakThru nights. I'll post a mix of mine up here some time and send it your way.

Yes Yes, Like Ike live in leamington about 20 mins away, been promoting a night called "renoise" which has been going well. Play dubstep alongside darker 2-step stuff.

maybe get a "name" up? Birmingham's about an 1 1/2 hours from Bristol by train, and probably about the same from London.... Just thought it might help you get some press....Where in brum are you thinking of doing it?

I was thinking of small venues to start off with, as I don't want to lose too much money renting a place out if it doesn't work. Also I've only ran pub sized things before so don't want to go organising raves, not yet anyways.

The Rainbow has just relaunched, I used to promote nights there before it changed hands, they run some nights like below in their back room, so that could be an option. OC's is really easy for me to set up as my mates already run a weekly night there, every thursday doing drum and bass. The King Edward has a good system but is a bit out of the way. The Med bar would be ok on an off night, and a friend of a friend is the bar manager so that could work. Then I suppose theres a tonne of other little places dotted about, that I don't really have any connection with.

I'm not going near big names and proper clubs until we know theres a demand. I don't think people are that blase around here that they'll be saying well I can't be arsed to go down unless xxxxxxxx is playing, hopefully they'll be more like "a night playing just dubstep, rather than a little room, at the odd drum and bass night, might as well check that out"

anyway, I've got pretty good response off this so I'll make a few inquiries then get back in touch, anyone else up for playing, especially people from Birmingham who could be there every month/fortnight get in touch.
