I purchased it by mistake. I was advised by a well known producer friend (I won't shame him) to get one because of the inputs. He gave me the wrong model, so when I realized it had 8 pre amped inputs I was like WTF?! will I use these for. But it does have the 2 inputs on the back, and the 2 on the front that I used to hook into the patchbay. The preamps I use with a guitar and for 2 mics. So it's not a waste.
When I looked at other similar interfaces for the same price I realized I wasn't going to get one with the inputs I require for a similar price. So I kept it.
And now, I love it. I'm glad I didn't take it back.
I have been advised I can use the preamped inputs if I get something (forgot the name) to tone down the inputs. But I'm happy with the 6 line ins. Hooked up to the patchbay they work a treat.
How different is the US1641 to the US-1800?

Nah, don't make you a sick producer, but it does give you more creative possibilities and expands knowledge. I don't use VST's or plugins aside from NI Komplete package and Waves bundle, so 90% of what I do comes from hardware or sampling.
This gear will be with me for the rest of my life. I don't claim to be a good producer and never will. But, as my progress expands, so will my music. Some like software, I prefer hardware.

I *had* to much money. Refer to my thread on life vs. music. I've had enough of working online 24/7 and sacrificing my life being the prick that everyone hates because I work hard and earn a lot.
I'm dedicating my time into music. I'm now making enough money to pay the bills, and the rest of my time is dedicated to music. My family think I'm even more of a prick than they already did, but fuck them. My life.
Passion and dreams over wasting life infront of a computer screen chasing the illusion (money)

I'm not sure what all the H8t0r-Ade in this thread is about.
GV1 being able to afford a bunch of gear doesn't affect anyone here - it's not like he stole the money from you...
He worked hard, earned some money and spent it how he wanted. Good for him.

I could just as easily say that to you? No offence dude but from the way you've even put out your phone and itouch on the keyboard in one of the photos and just talked about krk's as if they're expendable kinda suggests arrogance.
Also maybe people think you're a prick because....you are just a prick?

the us1641 is the us1800's predacessor very similar i imagine. I really enjoy my tascam too, i think it sound great and has served me whell (tracking bands and doing live recordings nice to have lots of inputs).
My only two problems with it are:
1. Activating the phantom power causes a huge pop noise which although isnt going to hurt anything relaly... def. is unseetling to hear come through your speakers.
2. The monitor Output, has a HPF on it. Which actually is probably a feature to help not damage near field monitors, but until i had figured this out it drove me nuts. First show i played out, i actually used the Monitors output to run my signal to FOH lol needless to say there wasnt to much bass in my dubstep

that show lol but now i use the line outs 1-4 and run two stereo signals to a dj mixer and i shake the crap out of clubs.

Ha, people on here don't like seeing nice setups. The only two times I posted my setup, I got hassled both times. Thing is I built my studio over the course of 16 years using a theory I call Technological Detritus. Back when most people on here were very little...
They would rather just see someone with a cheap computer and Massive, maybe some monitors.
It's not the tools, it's what you do with it blah blah. Still, I prefer the hardware. I'm glad I kept all of my old analogue synths.
