@craggle - fancy intro man! intro a snazzy drop. nice reesey texture, and the snare sounds great. break is sweet, nice and blended. second drop comes very smooth. songs finishes strong.
@s3f - epic intro man.. sounds very hip influenced. but also very creepy at the same time.. kinda like a battle song going to war... lol but i like it for sure.
@ascent - drums are nice, synths are delayed nicely. congo work is great. very trippy, jazzy chilly vibe. this song is very good man. sub bass is proper. add some female vocals!
beer and weed helped me make this. i think...

@lloydy
awesome track, i might try and add a little more sense of melody in the beggining to contrast against the dissonance. also i would turn down that noise that sounds like a saw that comes in at 3:13 just a tiny bit
@jizzman
the percussion is really well done, nice strong hits. the bass doesn't have much depth i feel like. if it was reworked a little to be fuller and fatter it would really make the tune, cool song though!
@donpablo
i really like this track! i feel like you really could spice up the drop by using a more interesting rhythm with that pounding bass, all of those noises are really strong though
this is a track i'm working on now, i would like all the criticism i can get! i'm wondering whether it needs something else after the drop, and what it would be, thanks everyone!

jimbeaux - wow huge sounds in this one. liking the snare. maybe a more dramatic filter sweep for the first drop? sounding great
bayda - nice vibe on this one. maybe add in some more percussion after? bongos can be cool
take2- heavy clean sounds, nice work on the mixing. maybe add in another high bleep in second drop?
heres one ive been workin on for a few days but am running out of ideas and feel like it could be much better

JimBeaux- Dig the shuffle of the hats in the intro and the intro as a whole. A solid track in my opinion
Bayda-Chill track with some deeper bass i like it. Only thing id say is maybe a little more evolution in the song.
FDS- The drums had me at hello. excellent buildup in love with that bassline.
This is my second attempt at a hip hop tune but i ended up with this, it is a WIP and by no means is done but id like to get some feedback as well as maybe someone who knows what to call this. Thanks guys!

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
hey guys sorry for my lack of posting lately, had to get into college real quick but here we go -
@jimbeaux - solid mixing on the bassline, those wobbles are sick! the intro is a little too hip-hop oriented and not medolic enough for me but its still well mixed so sick track mate! (alabsterpimpn)
@bayda maybe just add some lo-fi effects or a weird pad in the beginning and in the drop im really digging the simplicity if you were going for chill, its perfect, if you wanna get filthy just add a high pitched or grimey 1/8 or 1/12 solid lfo cutoff/datsik wobble, but right now its alright, maybe just add some background pads.
@fds you need to sidechain and eq your kick and snare so they come through clearer during the bassline, besides that I don't really know what to add to your track, not my type of dub man. but maybe add some white noise and risers sidechained to your drums in the beginning and during the drop to add excitment.
@Ruckr23 remindes me of runscape or something, idk if that was what you were going for but cool synth, retro as fuck.
after seeing nero live I decided to try house (I know this makes no sense but too much bass gives me inspiration I guess)... its kind of a chill track, any critque and comments are appreciated, i still have to make some changes on the drums and some of the mixing aspects of it but besides that the basic idea is there so tell me if it sucks or what
also tell me what you think of my dubstep ideas on soundcloud if you have time below

@Riich : Clubby intro. I don't really like House music so... I won't give feedback on this.
@Ruckr23 : The brass synth is boring, drums needs more processing for a hip hop track. Sounds retro thats true, but there's something missing on it.
@tuckerlinen : Your snare is a bit too low, give it some power. Bassline and percussion are fine, keep it up. Maybe a bit too much reverb sometimes.
@fds : Pretty good job on the drums, but your kick is a bit too repetitive. The synths are a bit messy, and the "oy" is very boring all along the track :s. To much repetition on it, and the saturation on synths needs more eqing ( notching unwanted frequencies )
@bayda : Love these kind of tunes, deep and chilled. Mixdown is good, i love the muted guitar sample all along the track. Just a bit more power to your snare for me
@Jimbeaux : Nice intro
Bassline is good, nice synths. One thing to me, your drums are too low on your mix ( maybe not enough weed )
Here's mine now » Soundcloud

@rucker23 - liking thte vibes in your wip man, its really dreamy, sounds like a build to something huge. of course some glitched out samples would fit nicely with this, and maybe some top end on your kick, also bring the snare out in the mix some. great start if you ask me!! thank you for your time and feedback good sir.
@Riich - yo man, ocarina isn't my genre, but i really enjoy this tune. your trance elements are quite nice. the delay an reverb on synths are on point man. might i suggest you take a listen at my buddies works, http://soundcloud.com/elitenick he makes some hardstyle electro type tracks, and trance as well. I think you could get some more inspiration from hearing some of his work. thank you for the feedback good sir, keep up the good work!!
@darj - already loving the intro! the drum work is quite trippy sounding i can hear like 3 snares/claps very nice. the vocal samples could use just a bit of softening on the upper end. and the sub sounds great, just seems a bit hot in the mix, also the kick sounds great, just a bit strong. the overall draft is fn sweet though man. especially the pads!!
@tuckerlinen - man your 'tune' wip is dark indeed. sounded like NIN in the beginning. your pads are really nice as well. sub bass is awesome dude, that riff i would have never thought of. it fits really well. mix down is pretty good, the lows are a bit hot to me.. but this is tripstep to the core yo. keep up the good work.

@jimbeaux: that tune is hard man, im lovin it
get a bit more stereo space into that mix so that the high pitched horn sound that comes in every now and then in the drop gets more presence ;D
@darj: love the intro, love the heavy drop. just need to maybe process those vocals a bit more, they sound a bit too dry and bright and prominent at the moment; tunes got potential
@Riich: i love that intro to the dubstep attempt, unique indeed; the bass in the drop is quite well produced too, you should try turning it into a proper tune ;D
well heres my new tune; much appreciated if anyone could give me feedback on this

I'm never really sure what I'm going for, I usually get stoned and then make noises that I like to listen too. Thats why none of my stuff ever leaves a work in progress. So really I guess I'm just looking for advice on what to do next or if I should change something I already have. Also I trust you guys to be honest with what you think about it. There is a chance a friend of mine will want to put lyrics with it. Thanks for the response!tuckerlinen wrote:@lloydy: ease up on the reverb you have on the snare. It’s an intense track but you’re relying on that sample too much to create the atmosphere. I would work on it without the sample and make that sound nice then try putting it back in and the idea is that it will be a fuller, more developed track. Props for making something 5 minutes long though. ‘tis hard.
@FluidMoShun: nice one bruv. Your bass is so clean, I wish you showed it off more. And the hats were nice also but REALLY quiet. Maybe that was a problem on my end because I can tell you worked on them. Also, some drums would be nice.
@Malibuandcoki: I would lay some reverb over the intro, make it seem fuller. This track is right up my alley. Minimal and subtle. Keep doing what you’re doing. The beat could be more prominent, and it should be since there’s not much going on.
@jkz: Flesh out the beat. That would make it more interesting. I’m not saying lay down a 4x4 to the floor but there are these gaps where there is literally nothing to listen to. Use a delay on a hit or something to fill that space. Or rework the beat.
@Swaggr: Sinister brother. In a perfect world you’d have a badass organic bassline under this. Bass period. And some stabs and incidentals. Also, since there’s a kick hitting every quarter note I would work on it until it’s perfect, since we hear so much of it.
@DJ Sampletank: I think you’re losing some weight on the bass by having it so buzzy. Since this is a slower tune it really needs to bear down when you do hit the beat. Some bits are really nice, the aquatic bass is awesome. The hats are really thin though, I’ll bet you have plenty of room in there to let them breathe a bit. Those delayed sounds that are kinda like white noise… how did you do them? Did you synthesize them or is that a sample you found/made? It sounds a bit like a door shutting.
@mixe3y: This is going to sound really lame… I read an interview JT did and he said something about fashion. ‘Put everything you want to wear on, and then take one thing off’. Some old guy gave him that advice I think. That’s not the point. It seems to me you’re trying to fit lots of ideas into this one track. I never know how to do this because my musical terminology isn’t very deep, but I would scrap all the fuzzy, thin synths you have going and keep that heavy one at the beginning of the bar and the nice guitar sounding one with cool effects on it. See how that works and fix what doesn’t. There’s a lot of sound there and it’s not all very neat.
@Bola: Most of the elements sound deflated. What are you trying to do here? I like its minimal nature, but too keep things interesting there needs to be syncopation and real depth to the few sounds you are using. This reminds me a bit of Wounder, was that a source of inspiration to you? If not, give it a listen. It has a very similar feel.
@Sweetjames: this would be cool if it were you on a pad doing all of this live. Otherwise I feel that this has been done to death and is tired. I sound like a dick. It’s only my opinion tho.
@Lichee: When you give this a healthy mixdown I’d love a 320. It’s the little things I love about this. Quiet but clean, which beats loud and muddled every time.
@NorCoDubstep: ur vocal sample is perfect. Would I put this on and light up? Never. Would I go crazy to this out? You bet. You know what you’re doing. I’d say thin it out, work on the drums but I won’t. I think this is great for what it is.
@Craggle: Ace! Make your lead synth as beautiful as possible. It is crystal clean now, I’d dirty that sucker up.
@jkz(again 2nd WIP): wow, this one. Excellent beatcraftmanship!
@Alexyherman: Those chopped vocals have lots of potential. You could do so much with them. You’ve got a solid track if you get creative with the vocals and rework the hell out of your bassline. Mixdown yadayada
@Jrisreal: At about one minute in things get pretty empty for a stretch. Lead is solid. You’ve got the framework in place, now make it your own. U no wut 2 do. Have you been to this thread yet?
http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=177786
@take2: Structure and style dude. First things first.
@Donpablo:Yes.
@Daskmajster : Yes. More motion on the bass plz.
@ Jclarkeiv: What are you trying to get done here? I think it’s brilliant but aimless.
@take2 (again 2nd WIP): See above. It’s just, how would you even know this was your song?
@DJsampletank (again 2nd WIP): The tune plods bro. Make it scarier and then it will stalk instead.
@Dogmancar: I appreciate the atmosphere and mood of the track. What I would do though, is start working on another track. You’ll get better at everything and have more fun than working this over. Get your fingerprints on these. Lots of clean tracks that don’t feel personal this time around.
@Bandersson: The melody is way long and inappropriate. We want to dance.
@Jizzman: The sine synth is interesting. The rest are annoying. I’m glad you had fun making this though.
@lloydy: I love the way everything crumples in the beginning. If you’re going to sample Portishead (or did I mishear?) you’d do well to treat it with the care and attention it deserves. I’m into it, but it’s sloppy. Tighten it up. Much better than your first imo.
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

Your track is ok just not sure of the intro sound to be honest,don't know if its my ears but got sort of a slightly low passed sound to it so lacks shine which it should have,did you do this because of the high passed sound over the top?Also snare lacks punch witch it really needs,it sounds a bit to wet on my system and in the background.
@donpablo
Diggin the deep vibe,the drums are nice and the vocal sample really suits the track.Al the bass sounds are nice and deep.This is definitely one i would blaze too.Drums are wicked and plenty of variation.
@Darj
Quality intro,maybe percussion slightly too loud but overall really good intro.Vocal is ok didn't blow me away but it does suit the track,other than that the track is really really well made the drums and bass sound really fat on my speakers and the mix itself was real nice.Lovely vibe to the track real head nodder.Lush pad in the background is just good damn sexy and the bell type sound,that just fit together perfectly and sit really nice in the background.
Well done mate i enjoyed it.
@tuckerlinen
Because it's an idea not a track i can't really give you a decent opinion.I like the sounds you use and the drums are ok,like i said it's an idea so there is no point commenting on things like mix levels and the like.The only thing i will say is the sub bass sound you have dropping in on my system sounded really good.If you done all the sound design with this you have got some skills though.I really think it is something you should work on.
Anyway here is the last post of my all bite tune,i have listened to everthing everyone has said and worked on it all.I now have new bass sounds in there and have c sorted the snare out.I have now eventually worked out where the highs went and brought them out a bit.I have kept the changes subtle because the track was 3/4's of the way there anyway.Have a listen i critique away but other than a few tiny little edits i am really happy with it and it sounds banging on my system.

LLoydy-love the choir like sweeping, dig the atmosphere created with this one. love the shuffle of the hats. Bassline is a bit gritty for my taste but solid work.
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Yeah cheers bud,i liked your tune bit more to the main melody i think would really improve it,the drums sound low passed which i think make them sound a bit dull so i would bring them out a bit but other than that yeah pretty cool level of production.

Darj-I love the snare in the intro and once the tune gets goin, the panning work you've done sounds good. I love the work put into the vox, some springtime vibes from this. Really enjoyed this!
Jimbeaux-I loved the intro, proper dirty south feel. Honestly roll with that and forget the filth dubstep shit. put an r&b -esque sub under that intro and the women will be all up ons
Ruckr-I really like the percussion in this, the panning on that lfo'd thang you had was a little to intense for me. Also put some more work into your pads, right now they are just obnoxiously basic. It had me in a bit of a trance, i liked it

Atmosphere is pretty nice here, but it's a bit too calm for my taste (but fair enough... I'm a guy who both loves dubstep and brostep, even though I do not really see them as so separates). I love the kick tho! The snare could be a bit more snappy. But overal, a good mix.
@lloydy
These drums are really awesome mate. Seriously, very big sound! I also dig the choir! I miss a bit of the "snap" in the snare. The mid bass synth is really nice and dirty, and that is really my kind of style. Btw, I get the feeling that the high's in the hats and snare are washing out the hight's in the middbass a bit, but that could be because the speakers I'am currently listening on are not the best.
@RightOnTime27
I love the depth in your tune! The low reach all the way down, so the sub etc are spot on. Also love the smart use of reverb and delay =). Not to fond of the lead synth melody, but the atmospheric sound make up for it!
Ok here's mine. Yes it's bro steppish... hope that does not cloud the judgement on the music itself. I tried to make this one a bit more melodic in the beginning. The last 15 seconds are still complete bullshit, but still added it in for now, to show what direction it goes in after the melodic part. I'm still building some nice synths to put there. Also I'm thinking of adding some vocals... but so far I haven't been able to find something that fits....

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Darj, The beginning feels too naked for my taste. When the sub hits, I am very pleased, but after awhile I am left wanted something new with it. The drums seem to be hitting pretty hot, maybe soften them up a bit and give them some nice space to glide through.
Bayda, Again, the beginning seems like it could use some melody or drum variation, dress that shit up! I am keen of the bass, nice, fat, and get's the song rolling. But, throw in a varied part of that bass, bounce to audio perhaps?
Jimbeaux, Nice intro, I feel some Egyptian vibes here for some odd reason, who knows? While dirty wobbles aren't my cup of tea really, I still dig the groove you have laid down. I love the movement on that hi-pitched vocal squeal towards the beginning. Great work, it could use a bit more length IMO.

@jimbeaux - Your drums need to be bigger man maybe just a little bigger volume, the bass needs some work cause they all sound lowpass to much like the sawed lfo. open the filter a little bit more for that sound and it will sound pretty sick man and theres a couple spaces in your songs either completely silence it to make impact or get a mechanical sample and bam slap that shit in there, good idea though
@bayda - just fill the background with more incidentals and bam you got a pretty sick fucking tune there not gonna lie
@tuckerlinen - clean the mix up a lot, and then who cares if its not a song, be different then everyone and just let it be whatever xD. its a pretty sick idea
@Ruckr23 - your drums seem to lack in fullness, they just seem like clicks really, if you make them a little bit better, you have a pretty sick idea going on there man
@Riich - I love this no complaints, very nicely made
@Darj - no compliants sounds good to me
@JizzMan - sick melody
, just clean the mix a little bit more and its done
@lloydy - I would say imo, add more movement to your bassline so it keeps changing overtime, even if subtle, I like the idea and sounds good to me
@RightOnTime27 - imo to much resoncance but thats my taste, the song has a good idea and just clean the synth up to make it more bigger in prescence and bam
@BaseBass - clean the mix up and this song would be awesome, trust me

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Cheers for all the input guys.
Mannnyyyyy - Thats badass shit dude, intro is ral nice, samples rock and bass is kick ass. Nice work dude.
BaseBass - Nah man I like the last section. Infact I like the whole track so far. After the intro, the change between synths and bas keeps the track moving, and sounds fucking great.
llyody - Great. Just great.
Jimbeux - awesome, love the kinda high synth, works so well with the bass. weird tremolo effect on it later is great too.
Alright folks, lately I have been working on the more laid back, minimal, dark and atmospheric side of dubstep and other types of electronica. But I got bored the other night, so I started fucking about with basses and stuff, and well, this is what I got. I've gave it a basic structure and repeated the heavy parts so you get an idea. All feedback welcome, cheers folks
