DMZ Question(s)

After listening to some all Mala mixes that I think I may have found off here, I've decided I need all the DMZ / Mala records in my life.

I've been searching Discogs and nearly all of them are £30 + .

Now I'm happy to pay that for a couple but ideally I want them all.

So my questions are....

Do any of these tunes ever get repressed?

Are any of these records available on mp3?

Also, are there any cheap gems that I'm missing out on, or are pretty much all these records rare & expensive.

but im doing this striclty for money. ive blown my knee out playing basketball and cant work, been denied disability payments, so i need some funds. If my situation was different i would never ever consider selling my mystikz collection....

in the pic is dmz 003-014, return II space, urban ethics, dmz 021, movado rmx, alicia rmx, in luv, burnin' rmx, cay's crays' digital mystikz version. all are played. but kept in excellent condition and have never been owned by anyone but myself.

i know exactly how much. 9 euro's for the 12's and 25 euro for the triples. i bought them all when they came out.

smh i've been looking for a NM or M 12" of the cays cray's 12" for ages lol..isn't that dmz002 in the bottom middle though deezio?

I've got DMZ001 and looking to sell it. Its been played but is in great condition and plays perfectly VG++ I would say. Really need the cash since moving to London has been a far far more expensive choice than I first expected. PM me with offers.

Is it just me that thinks Digital Mystikz best stuff ISN'T on DMZ?

i think i kind of agree. my favorites: level nine, redeye and misty winter. but if mala gets tombstone released on dmz i might have to change my mind

Really pisses me off that they never repress, i think its unfair to the people who werent around at the time, i really cant afford to spend £50+ on records that are used, but im not mala so theres nothing i can do about it.

i disagree with you mate....frankly not everything should be for everybody, you were either there or you werent. its not unfair that you werent paying attention back then.

I do like that DMZ have not reprinted too many of their records because it makes it so special when you have one or hear them played out. However I am glad no one else really does it

I certainly wasn't there back in 2003-2005, and I would totally be against DMZ represses, even as an avid vinyl dj. Their rarity and the fact that they are not commonly available digitally gives them a sort of mythical quality.

Well i was listening to stuff like linkin park back then and i had no idea what vinyl was, so i had no way of getting into the genre at that time. although i suppose what really pisses me off is the people on discogs who sell them for extortionate prices.

As much as I dislike it, it is simple supply and demand. Based on how rare jungle tunes have held their value it seems unlikely, but one day DMZ records might be much less in demand and therefore the prices will fall. I once paid 30 quid for a 7" which you can now pick up on Discogs for 1.99

On a different note I would argue that life is too short to be sitting around contemplating spending silly money on DMZ tunes, get yourself down a decent record shop and have a dig... You'll likely uncover some gems that may well become future classics in themselves!

Yes 'some day' it will... but as I said if you look at the prices of certain jungle tunes, some of which are approaching 20 years old, many of them retain high values. I think edm would have to die completely for those records to become totally worthless.

I've recently taken up buying old dubstep vinyl for some mad reason. I stopped buying vinyl when I stopped mixing DnB around 2006/7!
But yeah i've been copping a few of my old faves like Skream - Midnight Request Line that I recently got.

I've always wanted a copy of Anti War Dub, so checked it out and nearly spat my coffee everywhere when I saw the price!!!! £150!!!! fuck me!!!!!!! I'd be scared to play it if i'd paid that for it!

Think i'll leave that one to the die hard collectors!
