that movie has been run into the ground with BARE oversampling.
and the Vex'd Angels tune...
we've actually sampled only battlestar galactica (the series) in our dubstep tunes, but we've sampled several different movies and tv series for our breaks & dnb tunes.
star trek (we've done that alot
)
babylon 5
Pi
The Cell
Hellraiser
Terminator 2 (!!!!)
Lola, rennt
Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex (In Japanese)
Serial Experiments Lain (as well)
Hana-Bi (and again)
Matrix (well everyone is supposed to do that at least once, we ran it through a vocoder though)
Ukkonen (finnish sci-fi short film made few years ago)
lately i've been trying to avoid using direct speeches from movies as eventually it's almost a too easy way to create atmosphere or a theme or something to your tune, so rather try to use some other methods for a change.
and imo many tunes with movie samples would be better off alone. many samples are way too obvious and cheesy and some bits are way way way too oversampled.

one of the best film samples (not dubstep related, sorry) has to be in Amon Tobin's Like Regular Chickens, when he samples David Lynch's Eraserhead.
"... so i should just cut 'em up like regular chickens?"
"..sure.. just, cut 'em up like regular chickens"
KABOOM
love that tune.
you got me on this one, im a big fan of both, tobin & lynch's work and never realised that, amon tobin is pure genius.thehovsep wrote:one of the best film samples (not dubstep related, sorry) has to be in Amon Tobin's Like Regular Chickens, when he samples David Lynch's Eraserhead.
Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

here`s one for ya guys, I was watching Kill Bill the other night and there`s a line from David Carradine which has been sampled somewhere but i cant for the life of me remember what tune (or even if it`s dubstep for that matter, but something tells me it is).
the line is: "if you had to make a guess why she kept you alive, what would be your guess?"
also, still waitin on anyone with the knowledge to educate me on where the sample from Night Vision is as well. please. ("i like...the smells, the scents of another world...sometimes you come face to face with yourself")

Take thy thoughts to bed with thee, for the morning is wiser than the evening.Slothrop wrote:well, the bass is interesting but the post-hegemoniacal rhythmic interventionism of the cowbell part is overly redolent of paleospheric neo-step
