i have to admit that i believe in aliens because i want to believe in them. I believe in certain "occult" experiences because i've had them.

The word 'alien' doesnt sit well with me, I think thats my aversion to people saying they 'believe in aliens'Parson wrote:no doubt in my mind that we're alien hybridsdoomstep wrote:
I can get down with the distinction bein semantic, only cos I dont think "we're" entirelly 'un-alien'

Let's just say Occam's Razor isn't made by Gillette Inc of Terra, if you know what I mean ...
Seriously though, conspiracy theories are greatly appreciated by policymakers and intelligence folk, since it makes for wonderful grand smoke screens to cover mundane, ugly and specific truths.
Now, if there was some real investigative journalism, intellectual stamina and political independence in media - and continuously so - perhaps there would be less conspiracy theorizing and more informed engagement by the public in our democratic process. There's something to be said for transparency and open access to what's effectively our own property - the elected government.
There's plenty of nastiness to go around in truth alone, well before curiously exploring the other side of the razor.
But, of course, what good would that do the men in power, right?
