Hey guys. I need some input and would really appreciate the feedback. I'll get to the point.
I am in the process of getting a warehouse in the city I live in, and am trying to setup a DIY venue focused towards bass music. The spot is pretty big, about 1,200 SF. I have a whole lot of sound equipment, lights, turntables. I am drawing inspiration from the age old punk houses from back in the day. But this is not just a ratty basement in some guys house. This has the potential to be big, and I want it to be the ultimate source for underground Dubstep in the area. Out with the Punk House, in with the Dub House.
What I need to know is what YOU think. How would you best approach setting up a DIY venue for bass music?
Thank's a lot!!!!

Don't have much to add, other than to wish you the best of luck. That sounds awesome and if I lived in a town where there were bass music house parties I would never leave.

With the term bass music being vague, I'd suggest having an elevated position for the decks. I may be reading this the wrong way but you seem to be catering to the jump-up crowd, and the last thing you want is some crazy idiot moshing ruining your Cd-js/1200s/laptop because the new track was 'just too fucking sik, bro.'
Designated bar area (if there is to be one) is another crucial aspect to consider in the layout, it has to have access to an isolated in/out area.
And that's all you get for free. I have more ideas, hit me up on PM if you want more details. I was involved in something similar for a few years in HS, we had to be able to clear the area out in less than 15mins when the cops showed up. And the few times they did show up it worked out.

Try to have an all encompassing approach to the music selection.
Invite all the good House, Techno, Dubstep, HipHop, and Drum and Bass DJs together and RAVE FOREVER.

Honestly, if you're trying to build yourself a 1200 capacity music venue/nightclub, you should really look for advice on somewhere other than an Internet forum IMO.

Go work out how to get the best sound, fuck everything else you don't need anything except that and a decent floor...
Things like normal clubs have should be considered possible extras

You should use it to store migrants in the day-time, to help boost some revenue for the damage that the mosh-pit will cause.

yea I have been doing research elsewhere and I have a lot of friends in on this that have experience with DIY stuff. I was just looking for input for how to cater to bass music in general in such a place. I know how to setup a sound system because I work in live sound.

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

Mind you I'm located in Philadelphia, USA where dubstep isn't that prominent yet.

Some people don't necessarily care what kind of music you're playing as long as it's good... it's not like I listen to trance and techno all day long but I'll go to a good night or rave!

Bar, security, CCTV, lights, soundsystem, office, cloakroom, storage for bar, big fat up floor = you're sorted
Oh, set aside some $$ for promotion/advertising. It's vital unless you happen to set up right next to somewhere like Pacha or Fabric (yes, i know theyre not in philly)
Talk to organisers of current events in local towns/areas who may be interested in hosting their nights at your nightclub...
All the advice i can really give
