Problems with turntables ( volume and skating )
I bought my first pair of turntables the other day but ive got a couple of problems. One turntable is really quiet. I thought it might be the mixer so I switched channels and cables with no joy. Im pretty sure it is the turntable, could this be a stylus problem? The other deck skates at the same point on one of my recs. The other one plays it fine so im sure its either the platter spinning on an angle ( although it plays other recs fine ) or maybe the stylus again? ( ive adjusted tone weight from 3g - 5g but it doesant solve it). Any ideas as its getting annoying now? Theyre stanton t80s with numark dm2050 mixer, cheers.

Re: Problems with turntables ( volume and skating )
are you running them on line in or phono? and the angle of the needle might hve something to do whith the skipping.
Re: Problems with turntables ( volume and skating )
Its not a phono/line in problem as Ive switched channels and one deck is fine. Pretty positive its not the needle as it would skip on other records too I think the platters spinning on an angle. Tbh im just gonna take them back but cheers for the help anyway.

Re: Problems with turntables ( volume and skating )
heres a checklist to try:
-swapping the carts, if the problem persists in the same deck then try-
-swapping channels on the mixer, if its still the same deck then try changing cables if possible.
you said you would take them back, they were new? then definitely moan at the shop.
you'd be able to see if the platter was wobbling, but different volumes sounds pretty bad if theyre two of the same deck. what decks are they?
good luck!

I like these idea's. As for the skating tone arm, might need to tighten the tonearm bearing. Google a couple tutorials on how to go about doing it cause there is a right and wrong way and if you over tighten the bearing you're screwed.
