I don't have a problem with wanking or wank material...

I have a problem with promoting the industry as an easy, viable, and widely accepted profession.

Not saying I don't want it to be safe - I don't want it to pervade everyones psyche all the time.

It's damaging to women in multiple ways.

So you agree that the industry should naturally exist in order to necessary provide wank material, yet you want it to be difficult, seedy and widely looked down on by society?

I do agree that hypersexualisation is an issue in our society, but I wouldn't say Jenna Jameson was to blame. I'd say she was a perfectly natural product of our society (especially given that she was a victim of rape in early life... thanks ex-girlfriend's copy of Marie Claire)... I'd be much more worried about 7 and 8 year old boys and girls watching Willow Smith duetting with Nicki Minaj if I were you. Nobody stumbles across Jenna Jameson accidentally. Going after Jenna is bolting the stable door after the horse has bolted - you have to accept adults and their life choices... JJ has done immensely well for herself, it's not her fault that she was born into a world where she could thrive as a pornstar, she just found a way to thrive... fucking good on her. Great living. I don't really see it as much different to a kid who's had a tough upbringing becoming a world famous rapper by 'glamorising' crime... you've gotta play the cards you're dealt. Porn like all art shines a light on society, it doesn't mould it.

I'm not saying the society she's a product of is perfect (this whole thread has been about how imperfect it is) and I imagine in a more balanced world, porn might be rather different (and there'd be less gangsta rap, too)... but being interested in sex is perfectly human and I don't know why you'd want to look down on people just because they're more interested in it than you. You don't seem to look down on people who are obsessive over other human impulses like making music or taking drugs, why sex?

no - it IS seedy and dangerous

...and a huge number of porn stars say they started
because of either rape or sexual exploitation at a young age..

Well, some of it is. As I've mentioned a few times to you in the past (why is it always the sex threads that you get so wound up in?), one of my friends had an absolutely great experience doing porn for several years. No, you can't bear the thought of you making it and so you assume all other women must feel the same way about it.
