Yeah, definitely got to be played right... they're asking people not to bring sleeping bags in order to try and assuage a bit of that sentiment, the idea is to set the building up as a "Bank of Ideas" and provide space for meetings, talks etc. The PR battle seems to be the main problem at the moment!

Whilst the country faces a housing crisis making it almost impossible to become a first-time buyer in cities and ever-increasing rents for those of us that are stuck "off the ladder", showing how much dormant space the banks are holding onto shines a slightly new light on the hardships different areas of society have due to the crisis. UBS were on the receiving end of billions of dollars of bailout money, but can apparently afford to sit on extremely valuable central, unused London properties.

I feel detatched this week... all my evenings have been full, so I've only been down for my daily sandwich on the steps. 1pm GA on Sunday, most definitely.

Will try... I've got my parents visiting, but quite fancy taking them for a walk around the camp if we've got time. I'll be on my best behaviour!

It's rather ironic that their existence proves you clearly don't have to be a jobless scrounger to hold a protest sign. I assume this was lost on them...

Lucky I rang my Dad to doublecheck plans... they're coming on SUNDAY, so I'll almost certainly be at Occupy for the 1pm GA tomorrow.

We're not asking to be taken seriously as individuals. We're asking for people in positions of power to take the issues we raise seriously and form policy from doing so. We're the people, not politicians... we're providing a space for those with the ability to represent us properly as those who currently have the jobs are woefully lacking. Union leaders are engaging, politicians are starting to engage (John McConnell had a letter published in the Independent this week), papers are getting on board (OccupyLSX took over the Guardian this week) and people are getting genuinely worried about where this is going to go.

Only time will tell the impact it has - it's incredibly young to be writing it off already... a couple of months for a political movement? It's really only just getting started... you're terribly impatient! It's already changed the global conversation more than any domestic protest I've ever seen... I can only infer that the insults directed at it are from people desperate to mask their guilt about not doing anything themselves but sit on the Internet bitching about people with a grain of enthusiasm left.

Maybe we are pathetic. At least we're not fucking apathetic.
What the movement has boiled down to is no different than moaning about society on the internet. Yes, it's only been a couple of months, yet the movement has no clear goal or aims, and ridiculous laundry lists like this pop up from time to time. They really need to take a lesson from previous successful movements because at this rate it will just be something to laugh about next year, and that would be a shame. The right politicians are always there, there will always be individual people ready to make the people's case in washington, but the problem is getting them into congress (or parliament), getting them the cash they need to make their case.

You can't think of any domestic protests that have had more impact? Maybe in the UK, but in the states the tea party in particular has not only gained substantial grassroots support, but have raised large capital and impacted politics in a huge way. They rearranged a huge chunk of both the republican and democrat seats in congress. Every republican is trying to lick a piece of the tea party dick. That's REAL change.

Real change. Right. Right down the slippery slope that the republicans were probably already on anyway.

of course - why didn't i think of that? ... the only way to make politicians listen to anybody other than billionaires is for us to give them even more money!! ... finally, a battleground on which the super-rich can't beat us: £ 4 £, $ 4 $ ... genius
