I'd definitely stay at school. As others have said you're really lucky to be there in the first place.

I work full-time and still put in about 6 hours a day to music. This allows me to pay for all of the equipment I want/need and live a somewhat stable life and still do what I love. Yeah I'm tired as shit all the time but it's all priorities and doing things practically never hurts. My goal is to sustain myself off of music but taking steps to get there doesn't hurt.

Don't jeapordize something good you have going for a "Maybe" you might make it. It's different if you sign a deal or something guaranteeing that you've "made it" or you know you will be able to sustain yourself...

my two cents..

The thing is, I go to music school. I guess I should have mentioned that. I go to Berklee College of Music. My degree is in sound design and all that. Im in the Electronic Production and Design major here.
My comment still stands.

If your work is good enough for people to take notice, then give it time. It's not like you're suddenly going to lose your talent.
this is true, or buy some head phones and dont sleep.

I have several hours between my morning and afternoon classes at uni now, when I don't have homework to do I use that time to produce and occasionally post here.
Agreed, school shouldn't get in the way of producing, and vice-versa. And just because you get signed by a major dubstep label doesn't mean you're going to be super famous or anything... but it sounds like you are almost there mate, best of luck and don't give up :4:

I felt like this while I was in Uni, I was doing an Audio & Music Technology degree but what I ended up doing was all the ILM - Independent Learning Modules so I could do whatever I wanted I just had to write about it afterards, Sound Design, Mixing, Producing an EP for my dissertation. I don't know what Berklee is like but can you not shape it around what you want to do in the first place?

my answer would be no, don't drop out. considering you're at a music uni it's all gonna help. i lsitened to your tune in your sig, its sick and you've deffo got good production going on, but school is gonna teach you more and learn things you may not learn as you drop out. you may as well stay there, even if you end up tkaing a different full time job once you finish, you'll have all the skills you learnt at your disposal. keep at it bro

somehow or other i missed the fact that you're at berklee-- if the opportunity comes to drop out and take a well-paying gig, yes, go for it. for now, though, network like crazy-- everyone i know from berklee (and i know a bunch down here in NYC) is working like mad.

When i have a lot of free time i find that my productivity goes down.
I''m not too sure what it is but I get lazy.
I need a certain structure to my day, or even just the weekends (two days off).
I agree with the rest of the posts here. Produce when you have the time and get your priorities straight.
All the best.

In college, I did 35 class hours a week, 20 lab hours, I worked a shit job 30-35 hours, AND still did band practice for at least 25 hours a week. Add that shit up bro. Oh yeah, I also partied like it was 1999.

MAN UP
:wwf:

Oh, note, I also dropped out with a year to go because I had an opportunity in the film bizz. Yes everyone I knew shit a brick. I seized my opportunity, did it for a couple of years, then went back and finished school. When I came back to school, I came back 100% stronger, more focused, did some of the best work of my life, basically slam dunked it.

But I wouldn't have dropped out to write an ep, come on bro, really... really? Have you heard of this hard to find substance... its called coffee, its been known to keep you going for extended hours.

Just received a prescription for Nuvigil. Shit is whack. Don't know if it is anything like adderal, but shit is dehumanizingly whack, can't take it at all.

nah man, i dropped out of uni for personal reasnons, then went back to only realise that i wanted to purseue muisic liek this guy, ive listened and researched enough, ot feel confident and within 3 months of producing hardcore i got a label interested and a few releases lined up, sure the label is random and sure its going to take a long time but the feedback for me at least has been nothing but positive. so if i can do it, so can others, im not claiming to have "made it" in any sense, but one of my naieve life long ambitions was simply to get a record released and now i have several so all is not lost as long as u have a plan and u no ur stuff u can do it....! :h:
