If you had a slightly different sounding snare for every 2nd hit.. Added a hat instead of a shaker and maybe a perc on the off beat that'll sound sick.
Cool. I just picked some random hits tbh. I was in the middle of trying out "go to my pc" from work so thought I would see if I could get sound working and I did. Tried to add some bass (think I muted it) but impossible on works pc speakers.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Gives so much groove too!

One of my favourite 2step beats which is ultra simple is..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdcEljLBRCk

It never got a release :(.

Its all about studying.. even if you download virutal DJ and bring it down to a slow tempo to analyse the beats.. They really ain't 'that' difficult.

Liking the drums! your doing something with them drums I have been trying to work out :)

How many drums have you got going on there? would love to see what it looks like because my ears are playing tricks on me I think.

I can hum it but I cannot get it down. Something going on between the main snare hits I think it is. Is there some other snares or percs at a low velocity or something?

cheers, didn't think people would like it haha.
stab is just a chopped up string sample.
I didn't have many drums going on to be honest just a loop, 4 or 5 hi hats, one kick and a couple of rimshots + snare. low velocity snares between the main hits were pretty much randomly placed. shortened all the samples to make them snappier. lots of swing.

Cool. All you need is a loop for the drums anyway. Its those rims I liked! were they all quantized? only the one snare tho yeh?

yeah put it together on a 16 step sequencer. also I think I low passed the hi hats slightly, I think it sounds better that way.

edit: yes one snare. but I had lp filters on them so they were slightly different depending on velocity.

I said on here about 12 months ago asking if Synkro/Burial lo passed his hi hats and I got lol'd off so I never gave it a go! If thats what you have done it sounds much better to me! need to get home and give it a go, I think I know where I have been going wrong with a few things.

Why would the snare sound different because of the velocity? not sure what you mean it sounds different?

I don't know if they do, I just like the sound of less airy hats. 8)
I made the lower velocity snares have a lower low pass on them, they stuck out too much otherwise.

like a string sample played from a sampler, or like real string recording you have chopped up? have you like pitched it down or anything? sorry to distract from the talk about beats haha

found a string sample, well it was more like an orchestral stab - I just pitched it down about an octave, high passed at about 200hz and added some reverb and chorus. reversed parts to fill the sound out a bit.
