Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
I miss the finished feedback thread, but hey
Can't honestly think of much, thats related to just this production forum anyhow.
Few months ago I would have said, "to see some interesting posts.." but there's plenty lately.
A bit out there, but for somebody to do maybe one 1hour set a week, live, showcasing tunes from just DSF members

Alright. fuck it. I'll bring it back for a two week trial. If it works and people actually give proper feedback to each other's tracks, constructive comments (not just "Sick bruv!!?1111!!!") then we can look into making it permenant. If it turns into Dubs board Mk2, then it'll get canned.
Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
wub, i know it's not directly related to the production forum specifically, but how about getting a live chat stream that permanently sits at the top of the webpage. i think it gives people a bit more interactivity and allows you too tlak to each other on a slightly more personal level

Not going to happen any time soon I'm afraid - that would be a major site upgrade and a decision well out of my hands.
Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
yeah i kinda guessed that was gonna be the answer, perhaps worth a mention to dubway at some point though
Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
more of the older guys posting again, used to be decent banter on here :/
Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
Again, not something I can have direct control over.

Yeah sounds good, last thing I would want to see is it ending up like that, hence the reason I want this thread in the first place haha!

I just wish there was a way to receive constructive feedback and to return the favour.
Dubs section just seems to be a never ending flow of tracks with no feedback
+1 for finished feedback thread

What fucks me off is when people put "Feedback for feedback?" in their posts about their tracks, despite not having left any feedback on anyone else's tunes.
"Ok, yeah we can swap but YOU FIRST!"

I agree
Did you come here for my music or did you just listen to 5 seconds, if that and now you want me to rate your tune.

Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
Thing is, as I remember last time, there was a split about a suggestion introducing a more advanced subforum within the production section. Thats what i'd still like. Im def not for being elitist and all that crap (see my audio tuts on youtube), but I do get sick of hearing the same basic q's about how to make x bass ... and want some place within the dubstep forum to talk tekky nerdy shite and other music tec related banter
Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
I think people should stop answering with "Google it", and actually try to answer questions and talk with other users. It's a production forum, you're supposed to talk about production.
I understand if it's some bullshit like how do I make Skrillex bass then yeah you really can't help, but if it's something as simple as ADSR then why not just tell them what it is?
idk

Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
chad we dont jsut tell them what it is because 1. we have it spelled out in a sticky at the top of the thread if they actually read that they would already know and 2. seriously with google/wikipedia they should not need some one here to keep defining ADSR to every new producer who cant read a manual/google it.
+1 to depones suggestion too, it would only really work though if some of the more seasoned vets where active in its threads.
I think we should start referring to Sk....ex as Sonny Moore... so google stops pointing every brostepper our way lol

Exactly, and why would they post in the 'beginners' section if they are already established? You'd either get a load of new users asking questions and not getting answered (and therefore posting in the main section anyway, in which case people would get even more hostile as "there is a section for this kind of question rage rage blah"), or else they'd receive answers from other new users which would perpetuate a cycle of poor/possibly inadequate information gradually diluting it's way down.blinx wrote:+1 to depones suggestion too, it would only really work though if some of the more seasoned vets where active in its threads.
Alternatively, we have the suggestion I made earlier that we have a more clearer version of some threads (i.e. the moneyshot thread) that is perhaps tailored more into beginner/intermediate/advanced sections. One thread like this for each 'major' topic (mastering/bass/my copy of Massive won't work etc), all kept tidy in one meta-search thread with links to the relevant places.
Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
I just don't see why everybody can't help everybody. It's not that big of a deal to answer a simple question.
Re: Production forum feedback - what changes would you like?
You can't spoonfeed people at every step of the way. It's not practical, and it won't benefit them in the long run.

exactly thiswub wrote:You can't spoonfeed people at every step of the way. It's not practical, and it won't benefit them in the long run.
people will learn nothing by being spoon-fed.
Sure in a perfect world they`ll take the info and figure things out but we all know they`ll just come back and ask to be spoon-fed again and again and again.
imo this forum has just become about helping new producers and that`s where it seems to end.
Not all of us want to spend our day helping those that won`t help themselves.
