this, discussions of more technical level without having to explain yourself to the max, or have other pointless threads making it go to the bottom.
Open for everyone obviously.
You want a thread like that, start one. It's not rocket science.
Can't do anything about threads getting pushed to the bottom though...new threads will always be posted.

it can get quite annoying in the production thread when you ask a slightly-more-techincal-question than usual, and you get people answering you that havn't actually got a clue!!!

With regard to threads being pushed to bottom, can't be helped. It isn't hard to look further than the first page. Some people don't like to bump old threads etc, but if a thread has a genuinely decent discussion going about something, or is interesting/helpful, nobody will mind. Means less new threads talking about the same thing!
Regarding people answering that haven't got a clue, I don't honestly think that can be helped. Yeah, you get people posting in a thread and offering no relevant information, but some people who give an incorrect answer genuinely believe themselves to be correct / and are trying to help.

Just thread's filtered on that would be nice though you know what I mean? In one section.

TBH im with the advanced sub-forum idea, i wouldn't post in it as im far from advanced, but i would read it all the time.
Its not about putting a hard divide in the forum, as it would be open to everyone, but calling it advanced would make people think twice about posting in there. i suppose it would be more of a psychological thing.
Anyway, where's the harm in giving it a 2 week trial?? i think it would be very beneficial to the forum, where the advanced users can talk and us newer producers can have more faith in the information that is being given

The change comes from us.
People who frequent SNH/house need to make an active effort to post more in the production forum (myself included.)
People currently avoid it because of the abundance of brofests and ignorant, impatient people/threads.
The only way to change this though is to ignore it and optimistically post on.

just read through all this thread, some really interesting points and ideas. I think the "advanced" section would be good. people could learn loads.
I agree with the point thats its down to us to post better quality posts as there seems to be load of idiots coming on here now being really pretentious. its not like it used be, I first joined under my previous name in 2007 and it was really different and you could get really good advice from really sound peeps but they have nearly all left since the scene blew up big style, theres still some sound people on here dont get me wrong but not as many.
I dont know how we could facilitate it but if there was a way to get feedback from someone who knows what there on about, rather than some one who has just got a cracked copy of fl studio and thinks there a producer.
just my 2p

a thread on the page just made me think of something.
maybe a "help me find that thread" thread
if someone remembers reading about something somewhere, but doesn't even know where to begin searching for it (can't remember keywords, the title, etc.) they just ask instead of making a new thread anytime someone can't find something. not sure how much it would be used but just a thought
