Why did you have to make a thread about leaving, why not just leave and not say anything if you dont feel this forum anymore. Have fun playing your bropstep and pretending your still revelant to this scene :t:

garethom wrote:To say people on this forum are not open to new sounds is a fucking joke. You have the dungeon sound thread getting updated daily, often with very young producers (Compa is the main one I can think of off the top of my head), the Swamp 81 thread is another that is regularly checked, with more 130 styles being pushed. There's even a thread where somebody was asking for good recent tearout that a lot of people responded too. Sure, not every comment was in support of the sound, but this is a forum, it's a place to share opinions. I've even just seen a thread about Dubstep being compared to Post Punk. There's even a fucking moombahton thread. With regards to the "arguments" that occur, it seems to me that if one person offers an opinion that isn't full of praise for bro-step, there'll be 10 people attacking them for not accepting "evolution". I think the list of threads I named entirely disproves that. Sure, the music might become different, but it doesn't mean we have to like it, as Pete said regarding DnB.

People are discussing plenty of sounds mate, and the evolution is happening in many other ways than just simply Dubstep > Brostep, you're coming across like you're pissed off not many people share your apparent love for what could be termed bro-step. Whilst I respect your older stuff (Japan is a massive favourite), the forum will carry on without you, and I'm sure people will continue to use this as a place to find out about new tunes in all styles and tempos, and chat shit about them. The forum is as alive as ever, it just depends how you use it.
Well said mate :W:

so long plastic, shame that you decide to leave the forum instead of help contribute to dubstep's biggest online community.

Harsh. He'll always be relevant to the scene if only for what he's done in the past.

Also, can someone define elitism in this context for me? Is it just listening to a certain type of Dubstep and rarely venturing outside the SNH.

Well man, I admit, it kind of pissed me off. It's very easy to say the forum is just people arguing about brostep, but it simply isn't true. It's probably a miniscule percentage of the amount of posts per day, and there's plenty of producers that still do post here, maybe not producers that were releasing stuff in 2003, but producers that are releasing stuff now, no doubt influenced by this very forum.

He may have "left" but he said on twitter: I still think people are missing the point I am making though. They're now moaning at my post.
I dunno, maybe he's safer there on twitter where nobody will ever disagree with his opinion and he won't have to encounter and resistance to his massively inaccurate statements.

can't we all get back to more of this please :w:

what a way to bow out. opening a thread that results in a whole bunch of the 'elitist' opinions and 'pack mentality' that put u off in the first place. I guess what confuses me is, how could this thread bring about anything positive or constructive to the forum? i mean have u ever walked into a party, realized it wasnt quite ur cup of tea, then announced this fact to everybody before making ur grand exit? maybe its just me but in that situation im just gonna quietly walk out the door knowing nobody is even going to notice

What is even slightly "elitist" about any of the opinions here?

The "pack mentality" shown? Half the people are bigging him up, and the other half are disagreeing with him? This is the same shit that got to me with plastician's post. People saying stuff that isn't actually true. Either that or they aren't sure what they're talking about themselves.

I agree with your other point though, that's a good analogy. Apparently, we were being "schooled" though.

I find it interesting that he claims he is done with this place, yet is still talking about his post and responses on twitter. Why not just stick around a bit longer if you want to do that.
