dont really get people saying there's a massive problem with this forum, is there? if someone comes along and posts a video of them dancing to a maroon 5 song and people take the piss is that really suprising? some people need to lighten up a bit, i know the internetz is serious bizniss but srsly i dont think that it's gonna ruin someones life...

for the record i think that people on here have such a variety of tastes of music, much more than many other music forums as someone said earlier. doors being closed and 'shutting people out' is just :a: on loads of occasions new people post songs or something in particular that they're after and they get loads of replies

djplastician Plastician
@
@djmadd I still think people are missing the point I am making though. They're now moaning at my post.

Moaning? 99% of the posts here actually are arguemented. Some people agree with him, others don't. If you can't stand people disagreeing with you then... yeah...

any disagreement is automatically hating and/or moaning, unless of course it's you doing the disagreeing

He should explain his point much better imho if 75-90% of us are missing it.

i think he just thinks its sad that all styles of dubstep can't exist in harmony on this forum. It would be nice, but i can't see people not taking the opportunity to talk shit in threads about artists and music they don't even care about... i also think its too bad we can't incorporate all of the scene here. to me the hyper "filthy" sound is a lot like the dungeon sound: it's just a tiny sliver of the sound that gets rather dull after about half an hour of the same stuff.... but i am still interested in what may evolve out of it. every now and then someone does something new and exciting

What is even slightly "elitist" about any of the opinions here?

The "pack mentality" shown? Half the people are bigging him up, and the other half are disagreeing with him? This is the same shit that got to me with plastician's post. People saying stuff that isn't actually true. Either that or they aren't sure what they're talking about themselves.

I agree with your other point though, that's a good analogy. Apparently, we were being "schooled" though.
perhaps its not to same degree as in many other topics here but what i see in this thread is just another avenue for those that have been around for a while to romanticize about the good old days when dubstep was just dubstep and not a convoluted idea encompassing everything from 'dungeon sound' to 'brostep'. i find this elitist to an extent. now as for pack mentality, two camps are clearly present here, one agreeing with the OP and another disagreeing. im sure u all know that in many other topics these two packs are often much more ruthless to each other and i'll go as far as saying that the reason its not so brutal here is that most of the ppl posting are more mature and realistic than the majority of people still entrenched in the 'brostep'/skrillex etc. topics that really amount to nothing in the end.

I don't see why it is an issue if someone thinks something is crap, they say it is crap. It seems to only be an issue when someone gets overly sensitive that not every single person likes what you do. Personally I prefer brutal honesty over a bunch of yes men.

And in a genre like dubstep, where the sound can go in a bunch of different directions, you will not please all the people all the time. Make the music you want to make and if it strikes a positive chord with some people but other people dislike it then so be it, just don't cry about it and call people negative for stating their personal opinion.

and complaining about people who troll/bash/rant/complain about brostep, skrillex etc. is more mature?
but yeah, this "the same happened to *random forum/scene*" thing is getting a bit old.

People have been saying dubstep was gonna die like drum & bass for about 6 years
Remember when everyone was complaining there was too much half step in like 2005? Aha

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but it's not as simple as that is it? If we use tact we can agree to disagree and not drive an entire group of people away imo. If people just bigged up what they loved and left it at that, this place would be awesome. Threads filled only with those who are interested and invested into the topic could go a lot farther than threads that devolve into bashing and snide remarks. What would you visit more, a blog filled with music you care about or a blog that just complains about music it hates? Maybe I'm just ignorantly optimistic

Plastician says majority of forum are pricks

Majority of forum proceeds to act like pricks

We've lined our crops with pesticides to keep the bugs out and consequently poisoned our own consumption. That's his point.

im not complaining about them, difference of opinion is what makes the world interesting, but im pretty sure if u read some of the posts in those topics you'll understand what i mean. I'll be the first to declare that i've been drawn into some of those discussions just as most of us have. my point is that the two sides of the argument are not as clearly defined here because at least the majority of comments seem to have been made by individuals expressing their opinions in a not so zealous manner
