EQing (Equalizing) is the process of reducing the signal of specific frequency ranges by way of a filter (Hi-Pass, Low-Pass, Band-Pass).

For example, it's usually a good idea to place a Hi-Pass filter (EQing out the bass and sub frequencies) on tracks that are non-essential to the bass frequencies of a track, thus cleaning up the signal down there. Search google for some basic tutorials and you'll get the hang of it. EQing is essential to making clean sounding tracks.
