Brostep nights... atmosphere?
Most brostep raves I've had the privilege to attend usually ended up with people moshing, bouncers forcing shirtless bros and girls (some underage) to get dressed, people flocking around tillate photographers or whatever, overcrowdedness, general shitty attitudes from people who'd more likely fit the crowd at *random generic house night*, and I could go on...
It's understandable why some djs/producers prefer bigger events (with, obviously, larger crowds), commercial exposure etc, but once you start catering to those crowds, don't expect the support of the original fans. And also, don't moan about some of them coming off as elitist pricks, they might actually have a reason for acting that way.

Why would you stop someone from leaving a forum? Their decision, this place keeps rolling...

these "problems" have nothing to do with the actual scene, but with the simple nature of the internet and the fact that sites like this, social networks, youtube etc are growing faster and faster, with more and more people talking and less and less people having actually something to say.
i've been around different music forums and i see the very same things happening EVERYWHERE.
and i've come to the conclusion that forums of this kind are NEVER representative for a whole scene, but only a small aspect of it.
i understand that you don't want to be part of a online community any more, but i think you're making a mistake by reflecting these things onto the scene itself.

AMEN. And Plastician has been playing Doctor Pee for a long time now, as well as other even shittier artists. This tarnished any respect I had in his musical opinions. Good riddance I say.

the bullshit in some threads is far outweighed by the tunes i've discovered here, the nights and radio shows i've read about and followed, as well as the technical info i've picked up.
dsf is a fountain of information and entertainment to me. i read the things that i like and don't give a shit if someone posts about bro.
someone leaving doesn't change any of that. biggup the forum and the people who keep me updated on releases etc

I hope this post here makes it clear why notable producers steer clear of DSF. This mouthy horseshit that would get your teeth pushed in in real life is common place on this forum.

certainly doesn't make it clear to me. some dude posts a wank comment, sure. but why let that ruin all the positives that this forum entails. the negatives will overwhelm the positives for an individual if that's what they choose to see (as in someones earlier comment, i think slagging of dsf has become a phenomena in itself). but for me i check the shit i like, and its awesome

i think that is because you're not a notable producer and you and plastician likely come to dsf for entirely different reasons

i don't see how someone's status within dubstep would allow them to overemphasise the bullshit that exists here. but anyway, plastician aside, i certainly enjoy and get a lot out of this forum, and i know others do to, so that was my real point. in my view, the berating of this forum is over the top

I noticed that the majority of the people who have taken offense from plastics post joined in the last couple of years.
Before someone pipes in and says something to the effect of "that has no bearing on my feelings about the scene or the forum" listen up for a sec
Plastic and many of us joined this forum years ago, back then the forum was a flourishing hub where artists and fans alike could get info, shoot the shit, all in a well mannered, nice and friendly atmosphere. You go out anywhere and the vibe was amplified, everyone knew each other and while we may have had our personal preferences about the music, we all respected one and other UK and beyond.
In the last 2/3 years this has not been the case. Those that entered this scene and forum during those years will never know the difference and treat it as just another forum to do whatever. But, for those who were here before have seen the good things that can be achieved through this medium and shudder at what it is turning in to. Im not tarring all newcomers with the same brush but the majority of the angst, winding up and insults have come from the newer breed.
We used to ban shit talkers back in the day, if that was to happen now, there would be just a handful of people left on this board

i actually like the forum the way it is; sure theres a lot of bitches bitchin about shit but most of the time it just cracks me up more than anything.. Why make so much of a fuss out of it?
And also, the attacking like a pack of wolves thing is bound to happen in such an evolutionary genre; you're bound to get oldschool heads defending the sound they've heard for so long. Newcomers should just deal with it and decide for themselves wether they prefer brostep or something else.. Thats what i did lol, i prefer a healthy mix of both tbh

I am going to attempt to change the tone of this thread a bit.
I have only been a fan of dubstep since sometimes this past spring, and like I have said it was mainly brostep at first. I lurked on here for awhile and my eyes were opened to a bunch of producers and a bunch of different sounds I probably would not have discovered without visiting dsf. Now a lot of people get a bit defensive about the scen and sound that they helped to mold and sometimes take it out on a random kid who thinks Doctor P is true dubstep, and I am not condoning this action, but with a couple exceptions I see the love that most people have for the deep sound they grown attached to and don't want to see it go away. Like any relationship there are growing pains and people will have spats with each other, but I really do sense and see a strong community here. I am basically just a nobody compared to a lot of you, but I constantly feel accepted and feel like I fit in and can be myself for the most part. Basically what I at saying is that people may have an issue with Seckle from time to time, producers like Plastician may take things to heart a bit too much, and people like lyons may take too much ket and post sexist and racist ramblings but in my short time I have always felt everyone is friends here. And this applies to producers as well, sure they may not like someone calling what they are doing as crap, but I have never been so close to the producers of the music I love. In my short time here I love this place and it has made me love dubstep even more, I wish everyone could appreciate it(both old and new heads) the way I do and I hope dsf is here for a long time.

Seriously great post. Wish more people had your type of attitude.
