substitutions for the dumaxx/drumpad plugins

For those of you who don't know, drumpad is a physical modeling vst that focuses on making drum samples (kicks, hats, snares, all that shit). I was just curious if anyone knows about similar plugins? Preferably something with a more versatility. thanks in advance. :p

If you want to make drums surely you could record your own samples or use an ordinary synth (use the ASDR on white noise and shit). white noise with a very short decay time and no attack, sustain or release sounds like a hi hat
Pink noise with some more decay and a little release, but still no attack or sustain sounds a bit like a clap. messing around with noise, sines (for kicks) and envelopes is always good for electric drum samples

But what would I use if I wanted to record samples? I don't have anything that would sound like something I could put in a track. And even if I did, what should I do processing wise? I wanna learn how to make dnb breaks if that helps. Not necessarily to make dnb, but so I have a better sence from a sequencer to my brain.

to record samples created in a drum synthesizer, you can for example record the sound as a 1-note midi sequence in your daw, then add compression and other effects inside your daw, render that midi to an audio file, and then edit the audio file in a wave editor to trim the sample properly and perhaps add some more fx.

but - if you're only just starting out, why bother with that? there are millions of free drum samples out there. you can start with some ready made samples and layer them together to create new drum sounds. in the meanwhile you'll probably learn what kind of frum sounds work for you and then you might want to start synthesizing the drums from scratch.

all in all, try cutting drum sounds from breaks and layering them with other samples to get a bigger sound.
