Yeah I misread the tweet, he said he hadn't checked since the morning he posted. So I guess he could have checked the early responses. And he said the final reason for him leaving was not because of negative personal feedback but because he was annoyed by a thread. My money's on it being the DMAs thread because he was involved though I guess the Jonathan Davis hate may be a possibility.

There is no way that EVERY thread about Skrill/Flux/Pee etc get done. Its maybe 1 in 10, if that. ITs more out of frustration of having the same threads done over and over and over again.

To you (and me) its terrible but to the person posting its tunes they like that they want to share. Its still dubstep so why wouldnt they post it on a dubstep forum?

I think that statement is often subject to debate, and rightfully so. And among everything else, why shouldn't we discuss just that, here?
The fact that something is 140 halfstep with wobz in it doesn't make it dubstep. That misinformation is why most of us hate saying "i listen to/make 'dubstep'" because so many people
a)think that's what dubstep is and hate it,
b)think that's what it is and love/expect it
c)aren't into it one way or another and probably think they hate it

ffs people call 126bpm 4x4 electro "dubstep" if its got wobbles in it. People call Reptile dubstep. If that type of thing comes thru the forum, i'm either ignoring it or discussing it from my own POV, which is No, it isnt. Dubstep is awesome music. For my ten penneth, I personally think the forum is fucking class and is a fantastic resource for the music I love. The reason for the thread being started may be a shame but it's certainly raised some interesting discussion. IMO with the size of the forum these days, if its main problem is a few daft youth having the piss taken out of them for starting a ridiculous bro thread then I don't think that's bad at all in the grand scheme of things. Said daft youth have a fantastic opportunity to air their views (and maybe even learn summat...) in the 'new to dubstep' thread, if that isn't clear enough for them despite being at the TOP OF THE FUCKING PAGE then I think they deserve to get flamed. There is so much reasoned, intelligent and knowledgeable discussion/debate on here (and I've not even started on the production forum), if people get put off by a few sarcastic, borderline 'pack mentality' responses on a waste bro thread then imo that is a shame and also a poor judgment with regards to the pros and cons of the forum.

Without this forum you wouldn't be where you are now Chris, forums are about putting views across - this is dubstep forum, ukf forum may be more your cup of tea and suit the style of music you play. this thread is beginning to loop a bit. personally, it took me a few months to create an account here but once i did i was fine, i just feel this 'wolf pack' attitude comes from people signing up here and chatting about skrillex or some unknown brostep producer in their first post. i also find the ones flaming them were newbies as well.
i agree with having a separate forum for brostep, we have one for house where the scene has gone down that root, so why not brostep?

yeah, i've always felt that there's a clear, objectively definable difference between the two. and it's not only the musical aspects, the culture, attitudes, and vibes of brostep and dubstep are worlds apart.


dubplate and sound system culture vs. kids ripping 96 kbps mp3s off of youtube and listening to them with skullcandys or laptop speakers.

dark, moody "dungeons" vs. light shows, stadiums, glowsticks etc

If your qualification for music is rhythm and melody, then most old dubstep fits only half that bill, and most bro has 10x more melody than any "real"dubstep does.

What happens with releases that have 1 Brostep tune on one side and 1 Dubby tune on the other.
Fulham 2 waterloo b/w bang bang comes to mind as an example.

Making a seperate brostep forum is a terrible idea,it will just divide this tiny tiny community even further.

I know we all like to think dubstep has gone global and taken over the world,but it hasn't.I went to see hatcha last week and there was about 10 people in the room!Do a survey of 1000 18-30 year olds and how many will have heard of dubstep?less than 100 would be my guess(just from my personal experience)

Why stop at a brostep forum,what about a jump up forum,a deep forum,a juke forum.Then we can all just sit in our favourite subforums and never be exposed to something new that we may like/hate ever again.
