well it's not multiplayer so it really doesn't matter. i'd get it for PC since you'll get way more fun out of it once some cool mods start showing upmylon wrote:should i get this for pc or xbox?
my pc can run it fine, but I play xbox A LOT more mainly because my friends play it.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Admittedly its only as useful as the amount of friends you have using it, but if you grab Skyrim through steam you've got both text and voice chat inbuilt, and the xbox next to pc for standalone chatting isn't actually a half bad idea as a last resort.mylon wrote:that's what i was thinking, it's just that I if i play a lot, I probably wanna be able to talk to people while i do so, ya know?

It has been said a few times already, but can't be stressed enough, MODS! MODS! MODS! For me, the infinite potential they offer the game far outweighs any reason I've read so far so get it on anything else.
Grabbed Witcher 2 on sale the other day and this comment definitely helped the decision... Gotta take my own advice and ask if there are any must-have mods for it that fix problems/drastically increase the quality(visual or gameplay)? Or is it really the kind of game that deserves a vanilla playthrough first? (I was told this about Oblivion, and it most definitely wasn't the case.)deadly habit wrote:as much as i love this game the witcher series still kills it replaying it again
the elder scrolls have gone a long way off from when i played arena and daggerfall as a kid

I didn't really buy into it much, thought I'd give it a go to see what it was all about. Took some time to get into it but I've been playing it every night since I bought it.autobot wrote:Think I might have to give into the hype and get this game - does look fucking decent!

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
so what's the verdict on the 1.2 patch? wanna know before i install it since the 1.1 made me reinstall mods
Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Not really noticed any difference. Crashed twice last night, first time in over a week.
Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Mines only crashed once since i started playing (on PS3), pretty pleased tbh considering how often fallout 3 & new vegas used to crash on me.
Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
yeah, but also it's more comfortable sitting in my chair in front of the tv than sitting at it on the computer. also, i'd have to hook up my headset audio to my computer and then the mic cable to my controller. i also just like the xbox controls. gonna have to decide soon. i heard that the loading times are not as long and as frequent on pc than xbox, which is definitely a turn-on. I wish it had multiplayer so it would be an automatic xbox. also, im gonna check witcher 2. from what you guys have been saying about it, it looks mahvelis.
Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Restarted becuase my character was fat and looked shit in all the armour. That must be a sign of addiction.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The few hours I played last night were standard fare, no problems except for a single missing wall texture in Riften prison. But I certainly didn't notice anything new or improved about it either... I'd just save the effort of remodding till a patch comes that really changes things up for the better.deadly habit wrote:so what's the verdict on the 1.2 patch? wanna know before i install it since the 1.1 made me reinstall mods

well i use manly graphic overhaul mods atm so it would be kinda dull without them if the patch fucked em uphandbanana wrote:The few hours I played last night were standard fare, no problems except for a single missing wall texture in Riften prison. Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Don't know what it's like on PC but im still unable to do the windhelm quest that allows you to buy the house.
Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The new patch COMPLETELY revamped the quality for me. Runs smooth as butter now, whereas before it was laggy as shit.
Hoooowever, it's come with a massive glitch in that all magic resistance is now null. 1.3 should be out in no time, since people are freaking out over it.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I think broken quests remain broken even after the patch. Patch 1.2 wasn't the best for me. Had hardly any problems before but now have backward flying dragons and no magic resistance. i guess the patch out next week will fix it. They released a statement on the forums yesterday.aspect-dubz wrote:Don't know what it's like on PC but im still unable to do the windhelm quest that allows you to buy the house.
This week we released update 1.2 across all platforms, and we’ll be releasing an incremental update next week. We anticipate it will be up on PC first, and then hit PS3 and Xbox 360 later in the week. Among other things, the update will fix issues like magic resistance not calculating properly and the rare, amazing backwards flying dragon. Once the update is released, we’ll share the full release notes.
After the holidays, we’ll continue to release regular updates for the game — through full title updates, as well as incremental “gameplay updates” to fix whatever issues come up along with rebalancing portions of the game for difficulty or exploits. We plan on having a lot of these, not just a few. Overall, you should expect updates to be hitting the PC and Steam earlier and more often, as that’s a process we control. Console updates will follow, as they must be certified and processed by those manufacturers.
Looks like we will have the full, working game sometime in Spring then!
