I'm glad that you discovered "real dubstep" as you call it. But honestly, you could've enjoyed it without posting this right?
i would take a positive thread like this over some of the usual shite in general discussion
I agree. Yes it's positive. On a side note I just made a roast chicken dinner which was delicious. Next time I must remember to adjust which shelf the stuffing goes on so it cooks more evenly.

It's never good enough eh? We finally see someone that turned away from the mainstream sound and is now loving the sound that we're all here for instead of someone making a thread about how much he loves Brostep and all that. But people are still complaining...

No, it's not the slightest bit of informative for the rest of us, but don't come back to the thread then after you've read the original post.

My friends used to listen to that filthy brostep shit (borgore, cookie monsta, etc.) around me all the time and I always hated it so much. Then a few months later I heard This Way by Nero and was like "Whoooooooooa, there's Dubstep that isn't all about being as shitty as possible!" so I downloaded a couple compilations and mixes of slightly less bro dubstep (I think I was really into that Ifa song Puzzle for a while, so I guess that kinda stuff). I got bored of that stuff too eventually, I always wished there was chill dubstep without wobble or anything haha I actually started making dubstep cuz I didn't like most of the stuff that I had heard, but felt the sound had potential. I think that's around when I ended up here and got into Burial, Mala, Digital Mysticz, Kryptic Minds, Skream, etc.
So yeah... thanks DSF!
And good job OP, your story warmed my heart :U:

Haha thanks everyone.

Funny story - before I got my subs I was plugging my iPod into my shitty line 6 guitar amp and turning the bass all the way up - and I thought that was the equivalent of subs....
LOL

Yeah, the story is my friend introduced me to dubstep about two years ago, so I'm a pretty recent comer, and like most of the American newcomers to the dubstep scene, the first stuff I got to hear was brostep.
The first album I heard was the very hip hop influenced "Cozza Frenzy" by Bassnectar (which, by the way, I still really like to listen to...I wouldn't necessarily classify bassnectar as brostep...more like hiphopstep or something  )
Then I got O.M.G! by rusko, which was groovy.
Then I went on to Skream and stuff like that, because that's what the Wikipedia page on dubstep led me to...
I liked it, but my music range was so narrow back then I really didn't fully appreciate the half of it.
Then I found skrillex.
And others to that effect, such as Datsik (he's actually changing up his style now, and I like the new Datsik a lot more!)
I loved these guys, and that's all fine and good, but after about 8 months, I was completely burned out.
I was bored.
So I returned to the old Skream records I had, and it was like a revelation.
I was like, "I get it! THIS is what it's about!"

And here I am.

My all time favorite Loefah tune.
Appropriate seeing as this is probably the worst tune possible to listen to on shitty laptop speakers.

Yeah big up Jesus for dying for our sins and netting us a public holiday in the process.

Nah it'll probably be something else by then...
