Re: BBC Sound of 2012
1. BBC publishes "Sound of 20xx"
2. BBC plays artists in that list on Radio 1 day in day out
3. Artist becomes wildly popular
4. BBC talks about how right they were when they publish next "Sound of 20xx"

5: someone makes a thread about it on DSF which turns into a massive pointless thread about how shit mentioned artists
6: thread gets locked
7: we get knowhere as a collective.

Re: BBC Sound of 2012
When they say the 'Sound of 2012', they mean the sound that is going to be popular, you can't really disagree with them on that and there's no point in getting mad about it, they're not saying this is going to be the sound of the underground clubs...
The Beeb are great IMO, the Essential Mix has had one it's best years in some time IMO, Julio Bashmore, James Blake, Pearson Sound, etc... Not to mention MAH, John Peel and a few other notables.
I have to say this comment under the article made laugh though:

fantastic to see Dubstep on the list this year, saw Skrillex at Creamfields last summer and he killed the audience, one of my stand out memories of that weekend. Would definitely rathe Flux won though, he does more for the industry with Cirus records

In fairness he probably does do a fair bit for the industry. Now if he'd said the scene...
