Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
So, recently i've started using more than 1 DAW for my productions, i am interested in how many of you do this (wether rewired or not) and what you use them for.
i have started using Renoise to programme my drums, bouncing them out and rexing them with recycle, and putting into reason. i also use FL ifi want to use any vst instruments and a combination of adobe audiotion and reaper for recorded instruments/vocals etc.
essentially at the end everything gets bounced into reason, mainly cause that is the daw i am most comfortable arranging and mixing in, occasionally bouncing into AA for mastering.
what do you lot do? and why?

Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
I use FL as it does everything I need.
Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
that's cool, i've just found i like dofferent bits of software for different things. it's like having to bounce and import al the while but i don't mind too much
Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
when i was on pc i used to track bands with AA and then dj/produce with FL and Ableton. Not really rewiring them but iwas just trying to find out what i like best. I really dug AA for live tracking it worked nicely.
Now that im on a mac, i use ableton exclusively... because i like it and i can do everything i want with it alone. I did play around with using logic to track bands but have moved away from recording other people and more interested in just producing my own stuff... so ableton lets me do that all in one box.

Ableton for the most part, but I have Reason from when I first started producing. There are just certain elements I love within reason, but I do bounce everything into Ableton. Really should look at rewiring them...
Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
Quite surprised by the original poster that you don't use FL to program your drums.. In my experience with other DAW's I think it really is the best for it.
Abstrakt.

Something TOTALLY different. Really enjoyed this badboy and the melodies.

Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
don't like FL at all, only use it to make vst synth lines and export. renoise is the shit for drums.
Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
you tried ableton for your drums? if you have a drum pad I can't see how renoise could be any better than ableton's drum rack...Does it have slice to midi?
Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
Cubase 5 because I Loooooooovvvveeeee it.
Ableton for jamming out ideas and warping breaks etc

Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
do some of my drums in renoise (same method as the OP, bounce and rex them). also do a lot of sound-design in renoise.
but when it comes to making the track, everything is imported into reason.

Ableton for composition
ProTools for mixdown/editing.

Ableton for everything usually. At times I mixdown on Cubase.
Have tryed FL, Reaper, Reason, Logic, Pro Tools but just not feeling them.

never really used ableton, didn't like the interface one bit.

Ableton for production and audio recording, ocassionaly ReWired with Reason.
Pro Tools for post production (doesn't happen too often though, I do it in Ableton mostly).
Renoise when I feel like I'm Aphex Twin or Venetian Snares.
Used to use FL but It's really limiting me now

Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
I have ableton live 8 suite, max for live, and reason 5. I rewire reason 5 into ableton because I'm more familiar with reason and can make the sounds I want much faster. However, I like ableton for the mixing/mastering plus some of its effects. If I need more hands on automating of synth parameters, then I will make the synth with operator but if i'm mainly automating effects or am okay with envelope clips then i make the synth with reason. I love some of the max for live patches and I probably have started to overuse the doppler pan effect.
Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
Ableton for playing live and acapella and/or stem warping for remixes.
logic for writing.
protools when i'm tracking for other people, but then i'm on the other side of the glass and life is easy
i'd like to work more in ableton, really use racks, etc in production..... just haven't forced myself to sit down and become 100% comfortable with it in that aspect. which is funny, as our live sets are ginormous beasts of racks...

I have FL Studio and ACID Music Studio 7.0.
I use FL for production in general, and ACID as a paperweight.

Re: Using more than 1 DAW/What you use them for
I started on Reason, tried making the switch to Cubase... essentially because I was advised to. My workflow was terrible and I was finding myself falling short in a lot of areas simply because I lacked the experience to know fully what I was doing, so switched back mostly to Reason. Once I started getting into remixing shit and started getting better acquainted with certain VSTs, I started using Cubase in conjunction, rewiring and such. Ultimately ended up deciding that I prefer the workflow / ease of use of a single DAW, so I've been solely on Cubase for quite a while, and absolutely loving it.
