I've recently taken up buying old dubstep vinyl for some mad reason. I stopped buying vinyl when I stopped mixing DnB around 2006/7!
But yeah i've been copping a few of my old faves like Skream - Midnight Request Line that I recently got.

I've always wanted a copy of Anti War Dub, so checked it out and nearly spat my coffee everywhere when I saw the price!!!! £150!!!! fuck me!!!!!!! I'd be scared to play it if i'd paid that for it!

Think i'll leave that one to the die hard collectors!

What's the point in people charging this amount of money for a vinyl if it means people are too worried to play it out? Defeats the entire objective of buying the fucking thing in the first place!!

mate...its supply and demand...the record is highly sought after, whilst being extremely hard to get, that's why people can charge that price, and whilst people are willing to pay them prices for the vinyl, even though i'm on the buying side of things, i can't blame them...i'd want to get as much money as i could if i had to sell records like DMZ's. Also, the seller doesn't need to be worrying about what the buyer is going to do with it, it's not their problem. Also, the buyer doesn't have to keep it hidden, even if you pay £2000 for a vinyl, if you want to play it out, that's obv down to you, don't blame anyone else for your hang ups.


and you can have anti-war dub on vinyl for £20...just get the mary anne hobbs warrior dubz compilation

Supply and demand dude. Extremely low supply + very high demand means people who have it can charge whatever they like, as some people are willing to pay silly money to get their hands on it
In some ways it makes it cooler, like a "holy grail" of the dubstep vinyl world. It's just really rare

as long as there are people, who are willing to pay that much, who not take it from them? if people stopped to pay these ridiculous amounts of money for a while, the prices would go down. i hate it how it is right now as i'm in need of some of these tunes myself, but as a seller i'd do the same.

Naa I get it, didn't mean to come across as a whiney bitch just paid £45 for in luv but cant really come to terms with paying £80+ for a vinyl, seems wrong to me

the only thing i really get annoyed about is when you see first hand a record get stupidly expensive because of fools like dubvendor who overprice all of the records they sell. Like i've seen records on my wantlist on discogs go for like £5-10, then once all of those copies disappear, dubvendor or tanamushi comes along and puts a £50-80 price tag on it and then everyone afterwards thinks that's how much its going for and then the pricing on the record is fukked forever...



and the only way at this present time a DMZ record isn't gonna go over £40 is if it isn't the spongebob, education or road rage 12"'s or if a lot of people try to sell the record at the same time..

You could also buy the CD, rip a .WAV and get it cut on a 10" together with a bangin' track like Loefah - System that also has been released digitally. I'd always choose the route of getting a bootleg dubplate cut of a track that has been released digitally instead of coughing up stupid amounts of $$$ for used vinyl.

Is it just me that thinks Digital Mystikz best stuff ISN'T on DMZ?

Misty Winter, Earth A Run Red, I Wait, Pathways, All Of A Sudden, Changes, Forgive, all absolute badman tunes and not on DMZ. Don't get me wrong, DMZ is one of the best labels out there in terms of content, and Haunted/Anti-War Dub is deservedly legendary, and Return II Space is beyond next level, but just prefer the songs I named to the other stuff on there.

saying their best stuff isn't on DMZ is a bit strong imo, but certainly there are fantastic DMZ tunes on other labels. The soul jazz ones just got repressed so you can get them for cheaps!

Just an opinion man, just wondering if anybody else shares it. It's a tough choice between Forgive, Misty Winter and Anti-War Dub as their best track, and they're on 3 different labels, guess that just shows how strong their productions are.

Earth a Run Red and Pathways are deffinitely my favourite DMZ tunes. Never really thought about this though.

Did anyone go to the Exodus DMZ night in Leeds recently? Its the first night that I've been to where dubstep was in the main room. Normally I go to dnb nights.

It was probably the best night I've been to this year. Such great vibes and music all round. Had to drive 5 hours for it but was absolutely worth it.

I can't really remember too much on the night though lol - is there a thread on here?

Vox Warehouse is a perfect venue for me, just brilliant.

A mix containing in what my opinion is the best side of dubstep. The main focus point being atmosphere, beats, and sub bass - i.e proper music instead of over the top noise that has polluted the genre in recent times. Luckily there are still labels like Black Box, DMZ, and Tectonic who are keeping it real. There are no fancy tricks in this recording - just straight up mixing to showcase some of the best tunes dubstep has to offer in recent times.
