I'm really struggling at moving my tracks forward from 8/16 bar loops at the minute.

Cheers
Ive been working out a way to do this without coming across a pretentious know-it-all .. Once I do, I will!

FL is what I started on .. I tried Reason, Cubase, Ableton..

They all had things I hated about them...

Reason; lack of a choice of FX/the way you route stuff.

Cubase; GUI layout (sure Cubase people know the struggle of having to zoom in/out all the time)

Ableton; its an eye sore, the "loop player" bit (the thing whats not the sequencer) seemed really pointless to me, didn't like the lay out there.. I hated the fact everything was cramped at the bottom of the screen (didn't try external vst's at the time so it may be different for those) and just the general work flow of laying down ideas was poor for my work flow.

I use fruity because in 15 minutes I can have a drum pattern, atmosphere and bass layed down of around 4-6 minutes in length from just sitting there and recording/jamming.

Another 10 to work out a quick structure, see what is working and what isn't. Give it a quick mix; save it - export it.

Listen to it throughout the day and come back to the project file and finish it off in another 30-40 minutes.

No other DAW gave me that accessibility in my opinion! Partly due to I didn't know them well enough but none of them made me WANT to get to know them well enough.

I say this all the time and I use FL as a hub for my audio, vsts and to record midi then sequence and mix it. I very rarely use FL plugins (the tutorials ive done are aimed at what you can do "in the box" but relates to other DAWs/vst's obviously) so its literally just a host thus I use it cause I like its looks, shortcuts, GUI layout, etc, etc.

nice. thats fair enough

i find i make very diffrent tunes depending on the DAW im workin with.

the only DAW ive not used is cubase n fruity, although i have fruity now and im thinking of using it more.. the granular thing in it is the mutts nuts! (plz do a granular tutorial :) )

and i know some serious producers use FL, like blueprint, indivision, n few others,

but i think kryptic minds switched from cubase to ableton.. which is wierd, coz i always thought the ableton sound sounded duller than when using other DAWs, something to do with the audio engine... :/

anyway im ranting... great tutorials. keep em coming!!
