I think I just figured out a possible way to get that crisp high end found on a koan reese. When youre done with your reese, bounce it out to audio, but keep the project file open. Take off all distortion and re-do alot of the processing (keep the filters and movement though) to make the high end sound more attractive...don't pay any attention to anything else, just make the high end sound as good as possible. Then bounce that out, too. Layer the two reeses, lowpass the first, hipass the second. Let me know how your results are, I haven't tried this yet.

Thats a pretty hefty reese, man! But I think the drums need work. kick isnt cutting through very well and it just doesnt sound right.

Oh yeah, Aside from layering the snare and programming the drums, they haven't even been touched yet. I just wanted to get a rough idea of where I wanted to get the modulation of the reese to go. Appreciate the comments.

Hey guys,

This is my first attempt at a Reese. Love to know what yas think and get some feedback. I haven't processed the drums much at all, just a bit of EQ / paralleled compression and the bass is side chained. I was more or less focusing on the bass patch rather then the drums anyway.

This has been a really epic thread and great for learning, thanks for all your support.

Listening to this in my office at work, doesn't matter how many times I hear this track and the others off the EP the reese work in this is nothing short of mind blowing. I know they are by no means the originators of the heavily processed reese but I honestly think KOAN are honestly taking the fight to Noisia and Spor at the moment.

Abstrakt.

Come check out my fothermucking soundcoud:

Something TOTALLY different. Really enjoyed this badboy and the melodies.

I have created something similar to The Edge in the last week. It doesn't have the same groove tho, but the type of reese basses are aimed to sound like this song. Even the same type of drums. Ofcourse it won't sound as big and clear as the real thing, for I have not perfected my mixing skills yet. But I will post the result when I get home in an hour or so.

Here are my basses. They're not much, though it does have a lot of processing. But I have not resampled any of these sounds. Straight from massive hehe.
