Re: sub bass problems
eldoogle - give the sub a bit more attack/release. The click is from having it too fast. No need to low-pass a sine wave, as it's a single frequency.
160 bpm roller - for all the skankas.

Re: sub bass problems
Yes but low passing gets rid of the click. I've heard lots of people say it should be one fundamental frequency so you're only lowering the volume, sub is omnidirectional blaaaah..
I do it, it works.

Re: sub bass problems
you missed the point. The click is from having too fast an attack/release envelope. Give it more attack/release and you won't have a click, and won't need to use a low-pass filter on it.

Re: sub bass problems
Isn't operator a synth though, not a sampler? I can understand sample playback giving a click, but I've never experienced any issues with 3xOsc (one of FLs stock synths), so am curious as to why this would happen?eldoogle wrote:I do use a clean sine in Operator, but the low pass gets ride of a click.
I also know that click comes from ending the wave at the wrong time. Low passing gets rid of the clicks for me. Anyone else have clicks that they get rid of using low pass?
Any Ableton heads shed light?
Re: sub bass problems
a lot of synths have a very intense click when you play back a sine or a square - the ES2/ES1 in Logic, Subtractor for example. Always have to increase the attack slider just a touch to get rid of 'em.wub wrote:Isn't operator a synth though, not a sampler? Re: sub bass problems
Subs are low frequency so theres probably a case of the envelope cutting in inside a single cycle, thus itll pop up like that because the shape od the waveform gets malformed
Burial isnt dubstep, fuck off.
Re: sub bass problems
I'll mess with the attack and release and see what happens.
Re: sub bass problems
i hav been using low pass filters recently,i used to just eq it but the filter works better for me,i get the click occasionally but not when i play the track out
Re: sub bass problems
The problem is entering or leaving the waveform when the sine isn't right in the middle.
To prove it you can play a sub sound, bounce to audio, and zoom in and cut it right where the line isn't curvy up or curvy down.
But I just like to use a low pass filter.

Re: sub bass problems
the change in volume could be something to do with your room modes/standing waves etc causing massive peaks and troughs in the lower end of the frequency spectrum at your listen position.
try moving around the room when the sub is playing..........is the problem just as bad?
