You wont get anywhere like that lad, give feedback to at least 3 people before posting your WIP. The more people you give feedback the more you will recieve.

@Turnipish Thoughts - I love the atmosphere to this tune. The sub is absolutely beautiful.

@daeMTHAFKNkim - This shit is fucking wicked! The transition into the drop really hooked me in.

@Congojack - This is fucking bonkers. I love how every once in awhile the bass actually sounds like it's eating the sounds.

Here's a sample of the song I've been working on. Let me know if and what I need to fix. I know there's a lot to do, I just don't know what yet.

@Atticuh, Commented on yer soundcloud bud, great track

@Flippity, At the start, perhaps replace the phaser on that synth you have leading through the intro with chorus, turn the osc's on the chorus down to 0, play around with the stereo, reduce the depth to about 2 and play with the crossfade you'll get a much wider synth instead of being pushed quite high in the stereo spectrum. On the drop i dont know if you have that synth going through it again or it's the reverb but it's muddying the mix, High pass your reverb channel up to about 1000hz then bring it down as you play it and a/b it (listen to it with and then without the reverb) you'll find it right. If there is something else running through it take it out and open some space up in the mix.

Your Bass is clear, nicely mixed in that respect but you need more presence in it, if you haven't done already split your bass into 3 channels with a multiband compressor on each one, mute mid and high on first channel, mute low and high on second, mute mid and high on the 3rd, these will be your Low Mid and High, make low mono and mid and high stereo and have these 3 going to an out channel. Try some chorus on the mid and the high range using the settings on the intro synth and play around with it so it's sounding wider but not losing too much presence in the middle of the mix.

Drums are mixed clear, layer a couple of snares on top of that one, add 200hz to it to taste, notch around 400-600 jus see which you can cut without affecting the snare should make it heavier.

With the bass, i assume you using massive, assign phase to one of the oscilators, put a macro control into the box on the phase, turn the dial right down and automate the macro control to create some interesting changes in the sound of the synth every so often.

Keep on with the mixing bud and you'll have a bouncin tune, the groove and the bounce in the drop is class gj

Not usually supposed to do this (You should leave feedback for other people before expecting some back). But about the lead line synth. To me it sounds ok if not a tiny bit dull/muddy, i don't think it needs 'thickness' it needs more high frequency content in my opinion. If you're using a low pass filter on the synth patch, ease off it a little. Another way is playing with light distortion, this'll give it more edge. Try overdoing the distortion a little then applying filters to cut off the tops till you get it how you want it. Compression is also another way, turn up the input, compress fairly heavily and turn the output down till its the same amplitude as before the compression.

If you do want more width play with light reverb.

Welcome to the forums. Look at the way other people post up, give atleast 3 people feedback before posting. The more people you give feedback prior to posting the more feedback you will receive as no one will give you feedback if you dont give them feedback it's forum courtesy. My track is on the previous page, give it a listen and i'll give you a hand on yours, will get you started off in the swing of it.

@Flippity Pretty good, not my type of dubstep, but pretty good. Needs some mastering (I would increase the treble a bit) but overall, I like it.

@atticuh Sneaky sounds. Love the style. The only criticism is the mistake a lot of dubstep artists make: You need to keep the listener interested in the song. Otherwise the listener might just skip to something else. Captivate them. Add some effects and weird noises that will keep the listener at his place.

@Fat Person Turturer Personally, I dislike it. There is a huge lack of diverse and different drums, with some panning drums in the beginning. Try making the voice less fogged in the music. Have some variation in the voice. Make it say something else, or at least add cool filter-y effects to it.

@jimbeaux I am very impatient towards the wait for the drop, so I usually skip to it. Not here. You kept me captivated until the drop. Have the bassline STAND OUT... it partially seems to be sort of weak. Subminally add some "Hit and Explode" effects to the awesome parts.

@daeMTHKFKNkim Mastering. Mastering. Mastering. Oh yeah, sometimes less is more. I hate comparing to popular dubstep artists, but I'm going to have to use Skrillex as an example. His music is mastered, his EPIC effects stand out and for the time being, gives you a spasm. Then comes another different part that gives you a spasm. Its all about the timing -- But try removing or toning the amount of synths and effects down.

@Turnipish Thoughts As I said for some people, you need to CAPTIVATE listeners. Yes, it can be relaxing, but try using a little more synths and effects to keep the listener captivated. But yes, I like this song. It has potential. Keep it up! :D

@CongoJack Boner. 'Nuff said. Not even gonna continue this.

@Noisestorm You are one of my favorite artists on dubstepforum because of the sounds, how they blend, and their uniqueness and strength. I love the kick too. Try lighting up the kick in the beginning. Other than that, I'll pay to see you on stage if you come to Ottawa. Peace.

Okay, finally, my turn. Anyhow, I only spent around 5 days making this with a lot of frequent interruptions. This is presented in finished form, but I doubt I won't change it at all before I put it on YouTube. So here it is:Soundcloud
Thanks for the feedback!
PS. THIS IS NOT DUBSTEP. IT IS ELECTRO. Originally intended as complextro but failed xD Anyways, yeah.
Peace! :z:

@Lifeofcows, That is funky out the door son for 5 days it's brilliant, the mixdown is real nice and the panning is class! Beautiful pad in the break and the arp has alot of power in this track but doesnt take away from any of the other elements. And the HP on the drums at the start made smile drums come in nicely. good job well enjoyed it.

life of cows - just wondering if its finished, why are you posting it here. i like the synth sounds, some of the harmonic progression is a little to doo-wop for me, and i kinda wanted more from the drums. I'm not to technically inclined so i have nothing to say about mix down or what ever.

CrewCutz - I know your new, so I'm not gonna be a dick but you need to post feedback bro, thats the only way this works. anyways, I like the rhythms and form, sythn sounds are cool, but the drums sound a little crinkly, Im not a tech so thats the word I got.

atticuh - I love you use of silence, I believe it was miles davis who would say that rests are just as important as notes. this might just be personal preference but I kinda wanted to hear more of the synths and less of the drums (volume wise)

Flippity - this has got some filth to it. it reminds me of rotten shit (compliment in my book) I really got nothing else to say. srry...

This is a remix im working on, and I am stumped. any and all feedback greatly appreciated

thankyou to, trunipish thoughts, briskisgooforu, darkow, antman, j-hilla, noisestorm, congojack, and life of cows.

@ trunipish thoughts - cold hands is very good. i can't say anything negative at all. only thing, make it longer. you already know what to do!! mad props.

@antman - intro has a good foundation for plenty of layering an many other options. the main drop pattern is kidna boring by itself, i'd add some more tonally varied wobs mixed into your patter an tryn different glides an lfo speeds. and decent start though, just keep adding things.

@noiesestrom - i like the intro alot, that pitched vocal sample is nice. build before drop is very clean. drop itself is sweeeet. i like the a b a structure in the main body the variation is sweet its giving me an idea for my tune right now. i like how the mid break has a melody that stems from the intro melody. really liking the doubled up drums in the second drop... the whole format in this track is what ive been trying to grasp.. i think i got it now! excellent work imo man. props for sure!!

@illicit - i feel like this part can be either kept the same dynamically an used to create a pretty cool build, or, you could beef it up and make it a main section. reese isn't bad, it just doesn't have the scooped mid range crunch to it. not sure how much you've got into the reese options, i've read tons an tried different methods, synth, ect, but havn't really honed in on a good process yet. i used, 2 detuned saws, and a sine in massive routed straight to the mixer. eq'd first for the low cut, mid scoop, and high cut. rolling bass off at like 45 50 hz, and highsk an above. then added a notch filter adujust to taste with a slow sweeping, subtle movement. then distort again, eq, then add a bandpass filter with light resonace, an wiggle the cutoff until you get that sweet spot... then just resample an cut up different reese noises, an bounce them back in.. its alot of work but its all part of experimenting. im not so good at it but i've been able to get some decent sounds this way.

@congojack - loving the intro man, the first sounds are my fav. i kinda feel like some of the sweeps are a bit loud, but then again, i've been having trouble really being able to tell if certain high freqs are to high. but all the levels once the drop hits are perfect to me. my ears really mess with me. i really like the mixture of electroy type sunth work mixed with gritty basslines. this track is awesome man. you what to do!!

@disperse - very sweet ambience in the intro. the drop could use a bit of rounding off on the lower freqs on the deep synth. the the high picthed sorta feedback pads are really fn awesome. reminds me of the feeback pads in working on with guitars... that shifting pad before the second drop is really nice man. the vibe reminds me of korn an nine in nails.. its really good. man, some really well edited politcal vocal samples an maybe even clips for a video to this would be sick. images showing coorporate greed vs famine... this track is huge imo. major fn props!!

@flippity - intro is very creepy, my kinda sounds right here. drums come in nice, volume automation gets a bit to loud just before the drop imo. let it stay a hair lower before the drop. synths sound good, sound kinda thin to, try stacking cloned copies of your synth, or dimension, reverb, or a stereo effect like i tried, i've been having trouble getting certain basses sounding fuller myself. but they sound good. also tryn adding some fxs on top of the mix, just little noises an sweeps an things, i've been trying them lately it really helps to fill in the empty spaces or lack of layer to keep parts interesting. a good start man keep it up.

@lifeofcows - intro is very spacey, and the sounds pan nicely. the light filtering automation the the intro sytnh is pretty cool. the energy of this track isn't my flavor but is very well executed imo. i do like the glitchy type work towards the end to. keep it up man.

@orangeapplesauce - verb on snare seems a bit heavy to me. overall verb on everything seems a bit to roomy really. work more on this an repost.

i tried adding some stereo effects on the main basses and lowered the sub bass an drums a hair, brought up the pads and keys, and lowered the fxs. not sure how well this is blending, my ears again, are fucking with me. but i think i have the parts i need to get the rest of the songs layout put together.. just a few more go's and it should be wrapped up. what do you guys think?

@Craggle. Good stuff man, enjoyed the tune. Little 80's nostalgia for me actually. Drum programming and mix were solid. Good swing. Hell great swing in the fill work between kick and snare. Nice sound selection over all around really, very cohesive and justified. But a couple things crossed my mind that you might dig. I feel like that main synth line could use a lil dirty'n up. Bitcrush a smidge, maybe resample down to a hardware device of some kind (vhs , cass tape, mpc, etc..) and also I felt like the melody could use a deeper sense of resolution, but that bit might be out the window if you were going for a more wandering abstract kind of vibe. Enjoyed it, and sorry if I repeated stuff that has been mentioned already.

@Fat Person Torturer Liking the bassline, but you should vary it a bit more, its kinda repetitive. Also there's a bit too much of the high end on it, muffles the hats as well.
@ jimbeaux Verrryy nice sub, and the bassline, reminds me of what dubstep used to be like about 2 years ago. Love the little melody in the backgroud, just adds that bit of atmosphere. Quite original, kinda glitchy. And good work on the mixdown. Sick tune man.
@Alexandercunningham I like the idea, sounds very original and melodic, but it feels a little bit empty. I think some soft synths would sound quite nice in it. The build up was a bit too long, and the tune does get a bit repetitive, but overall not bad, keep it up
@ briskisgoodforu Yesss sick remix, i always felt that the original needed something. And you filled that space. Love the beat, the downsampling makes it perfect for the tune, kinda reminds me of Prodigy. Just a little suggestion, maybe a few weird sounding effects and some reece basses could fit in quite well? Good work man keep it up.
@Noisestorm I actually love your tune. Tight sounding drums, vocal samples that work really well, and the mixdown is on point as well. Love the basslines, and how the tune varies. This work is huge man your definately on the right path :)

Here's my WIP. The mixdown on this is killing me, and it still needs loads more mastering. Need to vary it a bit more as well, was thinking of adding some sort of a sly higher pitched lead during one of the breakdowns or something like that. Any feedback will be appreciated.

@ Flippity-seems like it needs direction...it first lacks groove and is kind of droning
@ Congojack-i like every thing but all the sounds and efx are so big its pushing your drums back alittle
@ jimbeaux- i love the piano but it sounds too general midi too me..maybe some efx(more verb and eqing)

had some time today to start the lay out of this new track.

@efence: Super chill track mate. No complaints can't wait to hear more!

@Delta9uk: Whoahhhh really gritty man! This isn't my style of dubstep though. So to me, it seems a bit too much filth in there.

@jumbeax: The only thing I can say is there seems to be an effect that goes "WHOOSH" to me it seems out of place and a bit too loud compared to the rest of your track. Other than that, quality stuff man.

@Lifeofcows: Haha cool track man. Really groovy. Makes me want to dance. No complaints here.

Heres my newest WIP, I scrapped the last one because I hit a dead end and decided to work on something else. It still needs some more "background" effects and some more things for the drop but other than that the basic layout and sounds are there. Lemme know what you guys think.

I'm kinda new at this whole forum thing/giving feedback so I apologize in advance if what I say doesn't really contribute much

@Danimal: I'm digging the track, the only thing I would really do different is try to bring the snare more up front and in your face, but then again that's just how I like my snares.

I got this new remix of Hide and Seek (I know it's an older song and all, but I love the vocals) and I've only got to just after the drop, but I think it's enough for you to get an idea. Please give me feedback on strengths and weaknesses :W:

@THISISKILROY : I love your raiser!!! The rest sounds pretty good besides the mastering part!

@ efence : Sooooo fucking chill man I LOVE IT!!! Bass feels good.

@ delta9uk: I think you have to much going on and your going in the red with your sound. Also if you are going to do that style of dubstep then It will probably be a good idea to EQ high pitchs that may be uncomfortable to hear. Melody in the beggining sounds good so theres definitly something there! :)

This is the song I'm currently working on, Let me know what it needs!!!!!!!!! :cornlol:
