i dont cut dubs but dubstudio are fucking great at mastering

they did an incredible job on resonate particularly....flawless....huge yet clean...warm yet solid and punchy

big ups to them...dont just go transition...there are other good places and they may be cheaper as well

also your status may affect the time and effort put in at larger better known houses...and dont be afraid to say if youre not happy with something

Transition or dub studio
And how will you inquire into a thing when you are wholly ignorant of what it is? Even if you happen to bump right into it, how will you know it is the thing you didn't know?

I normally reccomend Dub Studio, but as you live in LDN it could be good to sit in on the cutting/mastering at Transition.

thought the same - but got always top notch results from transition.
just my 5p.

but fair enough - I cutted, before i went to transition, at 3 different cutting houses. non of them were good enough - now i'm happy.

Anyone know who Beau is? Is he from Transition or Masterpiece? I see his name on 70% of the records I buy and I'm pretty sure he handles all the Blackbox/Boxclever stuff also.... he might be someone to try too.

Beau Thomas at Masterpiece I think it is. Sam @ Precise might be worth a look too.

Dubplates and Mastering probably master the best sounding records in my collection, but go to transition for the stickers.

I plan to get something cut in the coming year so I made a small list of reputable cutting houses.

So far it's:

Masterpiece - http://www.masterpiece.net/beauthomas.php
Transition - http://www.dub-plates.org/
Dubplates & Mastering - http://www.dubplates-mastering.com/prices.html
Turnstyle - http://turnstylerecords.com/index.php?o ... 6&Itemid=1
Precise - http://www.precisemastering.com/
Finyl Tweek - http://www.finyltweek.com/
Timmion - http://www.timmion.com/contact

Any others I'm missing worth a mention?

Beau is probably my favourite mastering engineer - he makes everything sounds bloody brilliant; i'd use masterpiece myself!

if you get a 10" dubplate cut at transition for 30 quid, do they master it before they cut it or does that cost extra?

rookie question :dunce:

Tracks -need- a slight mastering when cutting to vinyl because it needs special treatment to be cut properly.

So, yes! Its different from a full brown digital master though.
