Need help on beat/rhythm construction for dubstep tunes

Post by XZit » Sat Dec 17, 2011 4:48 am

Sup guys. I'm new to the forums-but not new to producing.
I've been producing electronic (psytrance/goa and drum n' bass) for several years. About a year ago I really got into dubstep, yet I'm having some trouble figuring out a few things with making the beats/rhythms.

So I use reason for beats/pads/leads etc. I also have a access virus ti, and a ensoniq fizmo. I want to incorperate the synths that I have with beats that I make in reason-yet do it real time.
I know that propellerheads came out with record--I'm a bit confused on something though---does the new reason 6.0 include in it record or the ability to record live instruments/synths within reason?
Is there another way I can do this-or some other good alternative program that will allow me to make beats on the software, and then record the synths live ontop of the beats??? Recommendations??

Other questions is--what is the standard beat construct for a dubstep beat? ie. bass drum falls on... snare falls on... etc.?? For example in dnb standard beat construct is snare on 2/4 and bass drum on 1,3,7 then 1,7,13.
I really like the beat structure in several hatcha, benga, and especially distance tracks (ie clockwork, and v)

Any help greatly appreciated!!! Thanks guys!

cool thanks for the advice. Def trying that out etc.

I'm just trying to figure out a good way to incorporate my synths along with a beat making program easily.
I really like redrum in reason it offers me great customization for each individual drum sound and effects etc. can be assigned to the channels really easily--any other software programs that offer similar functionally as well as providing 'live' support for hardware synths etc.?

thanks anyone!
