Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the dubstep genre, as well as producing. I've been listening to dubstep for about a year now, and I just started producing a month or so ago. This is the second song that I've produced so far, and I've been tweaking it as I learn more tricks and techniques.
Any feedback and/or tips on how I can improve my sound would be much appreciated.
Check it out,

Re: Scocco - Dark Secrets [Dubstep/Dark]
more basses, more creative basses and more interesting patterns. Good for such a short period producing, as I have been working on this since late late late 2008, so it pretty much comes with time. The intro starts a little bare and the kick and snare need more oomph. Where did you get the samples for the kick and the snare? Good starting samples make all the difference. Try giving you synths a really small (.5 db - 1db) super wide somewhere between 2500khz and 3000khz. I am not at my proper listening station, so I cant really give you too much advice on sub right now.

Re: Scocco - Dark Secrets [Dubstep/Dark]
Thanks for the feedback. The kick and snare were the stock kick and snare that came with the program (FL Studio), but I messed around with an equalizer to change up the frequencies, also added some reverb to the snare. Do you have any recommendations for a good starting kick and snare sample?
I just listened to a few of your tracks though, and I noticed that you drop them hard everytime, and you're definitely good at it. I take it "Hush" is your most recent? Do you plan on adding vocal samples at the beginning?

Re: Scocco - Dark Secrets [Dubstep/Dark]
the melody sounds a bit robotic. doesn't have much feeling to it, you know what i mean? try adjusting velocities of the notes and adding some syncopation to make it sound more alive

i see what you mean, i'll definitely take it into consideration when i make my final edit and for future songs.
