Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Danimal Gitars and Vocals sound great. I like this song alot, don't know why. Don't like the quick Yug bass but the one that sustains and adds that formant sound is really nice, gunna have to make me one of them.
@Cubicle Nice use of natural instruments. Very chilled out, and the sub was nice and thick. Some of the sounds seemed a bit sharp at times.
@Samkablaam wow that was soft. The vocals were great and that piano was sweet. But then it just changed into some 70's funk rock, not my fave thing but you did it nicely. The main vocals sound a bit far away and with maybe to much effects.
This is my track It's a finished track but not so much since i seem to have the same problem with most all of my tracks, just check my soundcloud account and you'll notice this problem. It seems that every track I create has a seriously flat tone in it. Whether it be my mid bass or my synth line or what have you but maybe someone can come in here and let me know what im doing wrong or have a solution to my problem. I am running ableton live for anyone that thinks that they can help. If that at all matters to anyone. Thanks for the feedback

This is a song I'm working on for an EP. This is the intro and first chorus of the song, if we're going with typical song structure concepts. I haven't gotten to the rest of the wobbly progressions in the verses yet but any feedback or ideas on what i have so far would be lovely =D

Make sure you are leaving feed back for others guys it's on the first page.
With that said.
Darj- That breathing is pretty sweet and that synth goes great with it. Love the percussion throughout the track. Would love to hear the bass from the intro come back in a little more often.
neenjahbrando- Interesting track, as far as the mix goes I it does seem hollow. Take your main midrange bass highlight it ctr+D to duplicate it then open the new one and make it a sub but keep all of the automation just remove any fx, distortion ect. and use a clean sine or whatever transposed an octive or two. then eq it properly and that might help give the track some weight. then take a look at the rest of your eqs and make sure you haven't chopped to much out. Hope this helps.
trypsyn- so I really enjoyed 1:09-1:30 after that
this would make a great chilled tune your track though.
Glados- the gain on your midrange is up a bit too high, it overpowers your percussion too much. I like the pads you got going on.
here is something I've put together today needs polishing but I like it, kind of movie soundtracky.

Darj- The intro is pretty interesting, but i really like the drop onward. Your wobbles are quite nice, and i like that sound you keep opening the filter on most downbeats. Heavy stuff man. A little more time spent on the eq settings of a few things. They seema bit harsh, but other than that, it's all good bruv.
Iorek, i love your tune dude. if you work on the drums a bit, i'll propbaly want a 320 so i can mix it with some chill stuff. It sounds alot like subscape, but in a good way. Also, the piano/bell work is spot on.
Glados, cool sounding wobbles, although the Q is too high for my taste. I really like those pads in the beginning.
Heres mine, i put it together over the last day or so. Any advice on anything ould be great.

Feedback for others:
@Darj: Nice track man, your drum work is nice. My only suggestions would be take the woobble bass out from before the first drop to make it hit harder?
@neenjahbrand0: Imo your intro is way too aggresive - both the drums and the distorted synth. I'd tone down the distortion. After the drop the cymbals and drum work seem a bit muddy, so I'd suggest clearing them up to sit with the synths better, also it sounds as if your sidechaining is damping your synth too much.
@Iorek: LIke you said - it sounds soundtrack-esque, I could see this track rolling over the intro credits to a film. The intro is pretty awsm, as is the drop. I don't really have any improvement suggestions to make
If you don't mind me asking, what did you use to make the string-sounding pads in the intro?
@Killamike49: Pretty cool riff you have going on, although I'd work on more of a build up to the dnb section if I were you - it's sounds too rushed.
I tweaked my previous WIP, I still want to edit the second drop - I'm thinking of changing the drums to double time? So any suggestions on how I could improve it would be welcome. Also I'm not sure about the main bass, does it sound too distorted and heavy?

NOT SaYING I KNOW HOW EVEYTHING SHOULD BE< ITS JUST a MaTTER OF TaSTE FIRST OF aLL ! and , please IM Waiting for your evil critics ))) !
CrewCutz - The intro is cool, I very much approve usage of not ordinary instruments ))) , then its good too, sound design is good, although it could be more dynamic, but anyways, really good, look forward to hear more of your music.
Killamike49 good idea , but it lacks development and pauses, try using more instruments, dont forget the "rule of three" ))) Sub - 20 - 75 hz, Bass - 80 - 140hz, Middle to Lead Bass - 200 - whatever hz
Iorek Great melody, not as predictable as it usually is ))) , Very good, I would consider working on drums its really good as it is .maybe some more work on mixing and you're done.
trypsyn nice one, soft and catchy, but its not properly mixed, the drums are so far away )))) Keep up the good work !
neenjahbrand0 Man, cool Idea, its is melodic as hell, I would love to hear that same tune well structured and well mixed, but before that try to think of a way to make 2 levd sounds not stand on each other's way because 2 leads is too much even when frequencies dont hide each other. I personally do this mistake all the time ( 2 leads at the same time) buts very important for listener to be able to distinguish between sounds easily. Try Izotope Ozone for analizing frequency range of each istrument and then you'll be well on your way with eqs and fiters.
Darj nice one man, although a bit boring, but the audience usually choses "boring" but comprehensible and catchy , rather than "dynamic" but to complicated, so well done here

Bass sound Feedback (WIP Track)
Hey guys,
Last monthish I posted a thread asking for some feedback on a bass sound I had for a track I am making. A lot of guys said it was over distorted, and I totally heard what they meant. I went back and started from scratch again on making a nice, crunchy, bass sound. I made two separate sounds (one lick type growl and the other a more defined growl), and one of them split into two more sounds (one bit crushed, the other less so). Please, tell me what you think, is it over distorted as it was before? Less so? I haven't done any mixing what so ever yet, just so you don't point that out heh. I should really listen to this on another set of speakers or computer >.> been listening thru headphones the entire time so far.

Thanks again guys, you all have been extremely helpful, and I have been learning a lot from this forum.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Thanks everyone for the feedback
mthrfnk- I use Orchestral by Edirol it's super pricey so look into finding it used like I did but, it is the best I've ever used for pad/orchestral sounds period. http://www.kvraudio.com/product/orchestral_by_edirolThe melody is a mix between a patch I threw together for operator and one of the bells from Orchestral. Now for your feedback. Lush lush atmosphere in the intro, the bells or woodbells or whatever seem to be up just a little too high volumewise. I can't really hear what is going on with the bass due broken gear atm, but I can tell something is slightly off, actually I could be wrong but I think I spotted it. it sounds like your midrange doesn't have much sub, and you have a pad that is bassy kind of overpowering the midrange. You might try either copying the "bass pad's" notes with the midrange or duplicate your midrange and use the second as a sub by turning off distortion ect. pm me if I made no sense lol
killamike49- digging this track but I feel like you should put "impact" on the drop try waiting to bring the drums in until between :22-:23 it's only a few bars but might sound more natural.
CrewCuts- really like the intro man, this would make a great chill out tune xD, the "suck out" sample seems just one or two dbs too high could just be me though. Got a good vibe on this one man.
thanks again everyone I will post an update in the next few weeks.
Alexyhermann - Great use of samples man, love the different sounds you got going on.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Digital: Nice flow with some really interesting synthmanship. Kinda loses direction around 2:00, needs to take a more distinctive form. some melody or backing harmony might make it more cohesive.. those eerie vocals at the start were a nice touch
@mthrfnk: The drums are sick mate, no need to scrap them. Writing some rhythms in double time and then switching back and forth between dbl and normal time would be legit. I think the bass sounds fine, just needs more variety cause the drop gets repetitive.
@crew cutz: Funky dubs
The kick in the 1st track is too low in the mix. That wobble at 2:33 is sweet. Love that upwards screech in slowroll. The breakdown in slowroll could use a few more elements. Both fun & original tunes, tho
Here's a new slow BPM (103) track I made.. feedback welcome and returned (usually.. i try)

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Iorekboth tracks are great. As far as Snorklepuss goes i dont know anything about subscape but the bass reminded me of Gemini and I'd love to own that just to go to sleep to. I really enjoyed that horn you put in twenty three.
@mthrfnk The bass is awesome it sounds really gritty but it does seem like there's an extra bit of distortion over the top end, it seems to just be like that in the first part of the verse though. 'The End' put a smile on my face when the drop hit, thanks for that. Dubstep can't be dead. Also like the choppy vocals in the intro.
alexeyhermann Digital Destruction was an excellently thought out plan. The glitches were awesome and the vocal sample was really neat. Very dynamic with the morphing basses i bet that took a lot of automation and time
All your feedback was exactly what i needed to hear all your ideas and thoughts are going to be placed in alot of re-eqing is due and when i change everything up i'd like your opioins again. Thanks for the comments And each one of you has recieved a following from me
Please look thru my other tracks and leave some more comments and criticisms.

@ PeriKardium it doesnt sound distorted at all this time you did a good job. The drums fit well and the vocal and piano. ANd the bass sound sounds good.
@ alex herman, it sounds interesting you have more of a funk vibe hip hop groove, its cool. The drop is good too it could go on for longer I think you ended the first one too short for a while. But thats just my opinion.
@mthrfnk something about your mixdown seems too loud. Maybee to compressed. But its nice and heavy as fuck. Good job.
You should come up with some variations of those bass sounds. I like the midway synths.
Heres mine, still need to add more sound fx and stuff. Let me know what yot think if it has potential. I know the beg is midrangeySoundcloud

@fluidmoshun love the glitchy intro and all those 8 bit sounds!! its mixed really cool, is that modern talking i spy though?
lol jk. but this tunes is very original. only thing i would say is bring in a very prominent 4x4 kick to bring punch
@paradigm i like the heavy drums and that old school break in there! i would say just bring the wobbles up a little bit, they seem to lack fullness , or it might be my speakers ?
modern talking!
@minusworld i love that indian boy or girl in the beginning (w/e gender it is lol ) . i think you need to bring the hi hats up, that bubbly sound DOWN, TURN THAT WAY DOWN, lol it scared me. but bring all the drums up, only the drums turn everything else, then bring everything else up around the drums, cause your sounds are ducking the drums like crazy, THERE IS THAT BUBBLY NOISE AGAIN lol. i like the breaks with that guy talking. the girl singing dont really fit in though

minusworld ----- here is what I would do in order to make your tune sound beter mixed if I were you ( if you havent done so yourself alredy, but it doesnt look like you have)
1) - you get izotope ozone
2) you use it a a spectrum analizer, there will be 2 lines along the frequency spectrum - look at the red one, it shows you the limit ( in terms of db) over which your instruments shouldnt go, so basicly all you have to do is to see whether all instrumnts are well lined along that red line. Does this make sense ? mixing used to be my bigest problem, but now since I Have been trying to undrstand it for a year I realized the composition is actually is far greater problem. sp good luck ) n b , low frequencies ( 0 - 400 hz can/should go over the red line by 6db maximum)
RandoRando ----- First time with ableton ? Enjoy warping ))) I believe that the hardest part of writing substep it to find a good rythmic sequence, which you have done very well, but the intro isnt as good as the main part, dont leave that track unfinished, the main part is very good, and think of pauses, stops, breaks, fills, sincops (is that how its spelled?) looking forward to hear it done.
paradigm001 ---- sound cool, I think you should leave as much reverb as you have now, but make it more clear cause I want to download it and listen to in my ipod man, really cool.
