Hey guys, I have recently pumped out tons of patches in Massive, but I can never seem to get the basses to flow together, they always clash and sound random. I have been experimenting with EQing but I'm still stuck.
Is there any advice for the structure of modern dubstep basslines?
For those who don't know what I'm talking about..here's a pretty good example

Re: Bassline arrangement?
eqing can only do so much, you gotta make patches that fit well with one another.
after that you might wanna make a bus and throw the same reverb, maybe some tape distortion, and other plugs with the same parameters on all of the basses, this will help them sound like they are in the same room and such.
also try and make a bass line that sounds good with 1 patch, then work on tossing in other patches on certain notes.
im not very good at it but thats about the jist of what i do. but theres tons of other methods to help them sound more as 'one'

Re: Bassline arrangement?
I have a terribly hard time thinking of bro-y basslines that people seem to be really into nowadays; my brain just doesn't work like that. But from the few successes I've had, I'd say a few things to help make sure you get basses that mesh well, is start with just one patch you like. Get a bit of a bassline going in your head, record your patch doing the first part (or maybe if you've got a whole melody in your head, do the whole thing and cut/paste midi later), then duplicate your instrument. Tweak a few things so that you've got a new synth but similar sounding synth, record somethin new, and keep repeating until you have WAY too many instances of massive for your computer to handle

Re: Bassline arrangement?
Step 1: Try to make a bass line that is actually a bass line, and not a mid-range tear out synth mislabeled as a bass line.

take a patch that you've made and slightly edit it abit each time.
that way its still got that "core" sound but sounds different and flows.
