Whats your take on this...dirtbag friend
I'm just looking for a serious opinion. i have a friend adam of a few years and he's a cool kid and everything but for one the kid is addicted to percocet and for two he sets up drug deals and robs people every so often. If you met the kid you would never suspect this type of behavior. he's well dressed, good looking dude, good mannered, chill, etc. i obviously think its his addiction that makes him act this way.
but would you guys be friends with someone like this? i like kickin it with the kid and we always help each other out by spotting each other and shit. but i just have a guilty conscience and don't like some of the shit he does. i try to talk some sense into him but at the same time i sort of stay out of it because I'm not going to bust the kids balls, it won't do any good.
but yeah i was just looking for some opinions on whether or not you guys would continue to be friends with someone like this.

Re: Whats your take on this...dirtbag friend
lol I'm actually looking for a serious comment. does being friends with a somewhat of a bad person make me as bad as them or what lol?
Re: Whats your take on this...dirtbag friend
Dress up like Batman and beat the shit out of him.
Re: Whats your take on this...dirtbag friend
Take some Percocet and dissolve them in your urine when he's hurtin.
Film it
???
Profit
Also applies to Wub's idea.
If he's jacking people he'll probably eventually jack you. Sketchy dudes are bad for business man.
Wait, is his name Lyons?

Re: Whats your take on this...dirtbag friend
drugs drugs drugs, it's a lyons thread alright...
anyway, I'd ditch the guy... once a thief, always a thief, can't trust them. addictive personalities makes these situations even worse. There are plenty of other people to chill with, no use in trying to save or rationalize with someone who has that kind of personality unless you're a trained therapist who's ready for an uphill battle.
serious question: are you really going to take any advice in this thread seriously? most people I know who ask for help with this kind of problem end up doing their own thing anyway.

He sounds like a tnuc. Perhaps if people stopped validating his actions by being his friend, he'd rethink them.

yeah i know what you mean man but im not looking for like a complete answer or life advice, I'm just looking for some opinions on what you guys would do. and yeah i know he's a thief but i feel like its just the drugs. also iv fronted him money before and he always has paid me back.knell wrote:drugs drugs drugs, it's a lyons thread alright...

this is actually very true. its just easier said then done.magma wrote:He sounds like a tnuc. Perhaps if people stopped validating his actions by being his friend, he'd rethink them.
the problem is i actually enjoy hanging out with the dude. i really am just not fond of the whole robbing people during drug deals. i don't like stealing and i go by the 'you don't fuck with me, i won't fuck with you' rule and he pretty much breaks the shit out of that motto lol.
but yeah i was just looking for some opinions or maybe someone that has been in a similar situation.
edit: btw this thread wasn't intended for drug discussion, i simply stated the fact that he was addicted so you guys would have a better idea of the situation.
Re: Whats your take on this...dirtbag friend
well, have you ever considered that he might need your help? if he is a good friend (and by good i mean someone you know well, whether he is acting like a tnuc or not) then you could try to get him to admit to certain things.
for one opiate addiction (oxycodone in this case) can be a serious thing. it is VERY difficult to kick. the withdrawal is hell. the effects of opiates block every ill feeling you have. it can mask depression and keep you pushing on for years if it isn't looked at.
just think about the other dude for a second. if he's genuinely unhappy then it might not be that he is actually a rubbish bastard. he has been pushed (against his will perhaps) to a life of being a rubbish bastard. people can change. i'm sure he wasn't always bad.
i speak from experience btw.

nice to hear the other side of the argument. i personally see and feel both sides. but i try to talk to him but theres just no getting through to him. adams gonna do what adams gonna do to get his percocet. he doesn't like being told what to do and he knows and admits he has a problem, but he doesn't do anything about it. its hard to help someone who really doesn't wanna be helped. not trying to sound cliche but thats pretty much the truth.tomm wrote:well, have you ever considered that he might need your help? if he is a good friend (and by good i mean someone you know well, whether he is acting like a tnuc or not) then you could try to get him to admit to certain things.

Re: Whats your take on this...dirtbag friend
yeah, i didn't want help.
how is Adam taking his stuff? is he CWEing to get rid of the paracetamol/APAP? or is he just munching loads of pills? either way he'll be doing massive amounts of damage to his liver and to the lining of his stomach.
also, how long has this progressed for? the longer he takes that shit, the harder it will be to come off of it. and the longer he takes it the more weight he'll lose and the more bullshit he'll get himself in.
ask him this: does he see himself in 10 or 20 years time still taking opiates and ignoring what is actually going on in his life? it will make him not care NOW but at some point he will have to deal with his problems.
but there is only so much you can try to help one guy. if he refuses help, cut him loose for a while. he'll perhaps realise he is losing people he holds dear.

If he's not putting them up his ass yet, I wouldn't get worked up over it.

Just because you are a character, does not mean you have character.
Re: Whats your take on this...dirtbag friend
he snorts em, eats em, and smokes em. he doesn't shoot anything. but i just talked to him today and he said for his new years resolution he said he's gonna try and stop doing em which i think will stop a lot of the other shit going on as well. see thats why i never push drugs to the limit cuz then you get addicted and can't enjoy them on occasion. but i really hope he pulls through and stops, i honestly have pretty high doubt though.
btw he goes through phases of doing them a lot, then hell slow way down for a month or so and think he's okay, then he'll get right back into em bad. vicious cycle it is.
