and i totally get that, but I don't feel like you should steal music even if you can't afford it... especially in an underground genre such as this, producers need the support of their fans, much more so than any mainstream artist... also, as an added benefit of listening to underground genres, some produces release much of their music for free, legallyultraspatial wrote:ultraspatial wrote: But do you buy every single wav/flac/mp3 you listen to?More power to you then.DJDM wrote: yes. unless the person who produced is giving it away for free
I personally can't afford buying everything I like/want, even though I'm not poor. I check out around 15-20 releases per day (singles, EPs, albums whatever). Some I like, some I don't. I don't see a point in buying something you don't like (and previews on websites aren't good enough). Where possible I'd honestly rather just buy merch, such as t-shirts or hoodies.
I agree, in this scene yeah, you can buy digital, especially since full albums are pretty rare. Two mp3s or wavs aren't that expensive.DJDM wrote:and i totally get that, but I don't feel like you should steal music even if you can't afford it... especially in an underground genre such as this, producers need the support of their fans, much more so than any mainstream artist... also, as an added benefit of listening to underground genres, some produces release much of their music for free, legallyultraspatial wrote:ultraspatial wrote: But do you buy every single wav/flac/mp3 you listen to?More power to you then.DJDM wrote: yes. unless the person who produced is giving it away for free

Yeah.. i mean Autechre is intentionally like this isn't it. I don't like Autechre but i can see the appeal and point of it. But soulless robotic 'random' dance music like this midrange stuff doesn't make sense to me.. and i listen to genres like hardcore/hardstyle/schranz even.leyenda303 wrote:mrdii wrote:It sounded extremely electronicWell...all of this stuff is electronic music. Dunno why people say all the brostep stuff sounds robotic either tbh; most of Autechre's stuff sounds more robotic to me. But they like to use it to describe something as soulless I guess.

This sounds pretty obviously electronic (and out of a computer) to me:mrdii wrote:leyenda303 wrote:mrdii wrote:It sounded extremely electronicWell...all of this stuff is electronic music. What I mean is that stuff like big synths and wobbles sound straight out of a computer, whilst the darker more ambient stuff doesn't. Of course, it's all electronic at the end of the day but some stuff sounds more obvious.

....should we kill him?
i was talking about the guy that posted that, but i like your idea too... maybe we should beat him over the head with dmz007 on vinyl.. but that would be a waste, wouldn't itSonika wrote:Would take longer than most people, I think his brain has developed an immunity to his music....I think its very possible that he's deaf, and thought Ableton was a fun little video game and started messing with it.
I mean, his DJing sounds like he's deaf

You're a revolutionary genius.-[2]DAY_- wrote:i love getting the booklets and art when i buy CDs.. i definitely didn't skip it, thats still how i buy music. even tho it is stupid considering they're just flimsy, outdated soft-drive discs that hold something like 350MB data... and the drives for them are on their way to being phased out of computers for good... I buy them bc i'm limited to digital playback, and i do want the extra, plus just the aspect of owning the physical copy. But i definitely DON'T want a PDF. We can come up with something better. If they can eliminate shipping costs, distros need to take advantage of it, but tbh I like getting things shipped, i like the anticipation of it arriving in the mail. They should put lossless .WAVs on a nice, decent looking thumb drive with a few gigs storage, and in there put a folder with the music, plus whatever else -- promo tunes, adverts, graphics, videos, freebies. And let it come in a box with artwork and booklets comparable to that of a CD. and finally, you get to keep the thumb drive, erase it and use it in your daily life. OR, ship it back for a discount on your next purchase. See, we don't have to decide between embracing the digital age, and having quality physical goods.

She said that and then something came on that sounded like it could be on the radio. That wasn't the only moment in the video that confused me. You could say I spent most of the time confused. Now to read the comments because I'm a masochist.vertx wrote:wat a hottie
i also like the bit where she says all mainstream songs are shit - so true

what is....hdechter wrote:
Shall I compare thee to a pastry? You see,the drop in a Dubstep song is like the jelly in a jelly filled doughnut. You know its there and that you'll get to it eventually, and you know that others like it, but you don't know if you'll like it. And you begin to think that the song might be better without the jelly, but you realize that if the doughnut didn't have a drop, it wouldn't be nearly as interesting, or as lively as it is right.....NOW.
