Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
You can pitch everything up if it's all audio, just select it all and set the pitch in the warp panel. If you have midi, you'll have to pitch it up with a Live's pitch plug in. I don't know of a way to pitch both midi and audio in a single click.

Yes you can, go to options/preferences/look feel, and the option is there for allowing multiple instances, not sure if you can link them together though, haven't tried it.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
SO people who use session view for performance, i have a song i created all in arrangment so this means my session view has no clips in it at all. I recieved a APC40 for xmas and havent even really touched it :/. I was just wondering what the easiest way to make my said track ready for live performance by turning it into clips in the session view? is there one button to press somewhere to transport all my clips? or am i gonna have to copy and paste everything?
I feel bad cause my mum bought me my apc and havent even used it : /

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
Honestly i would just try making clips in the session view, midi assigning a few controls for mixing on your controller, and recording it over to the arrangement view. It may be easier to just make a project in arrangement but if you want to get use out of an APC40 you need to use clips in session.RandoRando wrote:SO people who use session view for performance, i have a song i created all in arrangment so this means my session view has no clips in it at all. EDIT: you do know that if you grab a clip from the arrangement view then press tab you can drop it into session view.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
i have issues with people that have equipment that doesn't get used, especially kids that get it gifted. but before any more major derailment it is totally my issue and he shouldn't get offended cos he's the one with the apc40.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
understandable, for sure. It just takes some getting used to switching from arrangement to session view. effort, no. time to get to quality, yes.symmetricalsounds wrote:i have issues with people that have equipment that doesn't get used, especially kids that get it gifted. but before any more major derailment it is totally my issue and he shouldn't get offended cos he's the one with the apc40.

i just started using ableton a week ago! so im trying to perfect my session view usage so i can put it to use. Ive already started to build some track in session view and warp some songs for DJing and i think i watched every apc tutorial on youtube. i think the main reason i havent used it is because i need a usb hub first. i like the have my mouse plugged in with my mpk while producing a tune. if i have the apc in it would be a fuckton easier recording in session just arming clips for recording from the apc

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
You don't need to arm a track to record it to session, if the record button is on any element you use with your controller will be moved on to the arrangement layout.RandoRando wrote:its not that i dont appreciate it, i really wanted one, dident even ask for one though, but still got one.symmetricalsounds wrote:people like you annoy the fuck out of me, not your problem obviously it's all my issue.RandoRando wrote:I recieved a APC40 for xmas and havent even really touched it :/.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
I was just actually lookin at those on ebay. So I'm gonna need powered one? THe mpk is phantom power, but the apc has it's own power supply. I wanted one cause I only have 2 ports and want my apc mpk and mouse plugged in.symmetricalsounds wrote:so you've got an mpk controller and an apc?

I was wondering.... is they're any way to have a non powered USB hub that is powerful enough to run a couple of controllers? I am thinking if you have a real powerful PSU or whatever. Or is it all down to the hub it self?

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
well laptops have pretty shit PSUs and if it's a desktop then just get yourself some more proper usb ports rather than going for a hub, but theoretically yeah it's down to the power behind the hub rather than the hub itself.Mehlovich wrote:symmetricalsounds wrote:yeah you're better off with a powered hub.
