i've made some natural sounding ones by cutting a bit of the start off the snare so that it hits less hard... depends on the snare tho sometimes it jus doesnt work.sully_shanks wrote:ghost snares are rly soft snare hits you use to get a beat rolling...
yeh get em from breaks
drum solos are usually the best, specially jazz
you can do tricks with reversing n reverb etc but it dosnt sound natural...
Like everything in music, there are many ways to do this. Probably the most interesting way would be to figure it out yourself and (in the process) possibly develop an original idea that may have added benefits that no one else is doing, but there are many tried and true..
If you're going for something frantic, then get a good beat slicer and go to work. If you are wanting something with more space/control, then open your sequencer, drop in your snares, and change velocity on the hits you want to modify. Try tying things like amp env (obviously), sample start point, etc to velocity and you should get the desired effect.
