All because of Pitchfork IMO.

But I have loved artists like Wu Tang for years and this is because there is so much more to the music that bitches, hoes, money, hoes and crack (although it is quiet often about crack  ).

Even though none of these guys have abrasive voices and not much of a "flow" they remain one of my favourite hip hop groups because of that something more :D.

 Muntz, how are you gonna big up Waka then try to criticise other rappers? You just lost any credibility you had on the topic of hip hop.

And fuck outta here with that backpacker shit, that's just a label ignorant people put on rap they can't understand. If this is 'backpack' I'll eat my hat:

Have you guys never considered the fact that maybe Skream and Benga actually like the music you guys spend all your energy hating? That maybe Benga truly thinks Bass Cannon is an enjoyable tune? That maybe they like it and know others like it and aren't just "selling out" or whatever the implications are on threads like this?

I mean, Skreams makes tear out screechy wob wob lfo tunes from time to time. You doubt the fact that he likes artist who make similar sounds?

Fuck.

Doubt anyone bothers with the fact that they enjoy it or not. People criticise tunes like bass cannon because they're shit.

i dont think anyone has questioned whether they like it dude, im absolutely positive that they do since it's 90% of what they play nowadays. but that definitely doesn't make it good music just because they enjoy it. im not saying that it's all fundamentally bad because im certainly no expert but you cant just say that those tunes are good because they get played by benga & skream

I never said they were good tunes, I dont listen to nor care for them. It's just really irritating when people like "WTF BENGA AND BORGORE HAD A CHAT ON TWITTER AND DEN SKREAM DROPPED DOCTOR P TETRIS, WHAT ARE THEY THINKING!? " . Some people on this forum are always too quick to forget that Benga and Skream might be a little more open minded than them.

Good god man, and you wonder why people are "ignorant" to what hip hop really is? it's because instead of trying to impart some real knowledge, you turn into a prick to try to prove somebody wrong... Instead of ripping into people, why don't you just show them. Or maybe you could just let him listen to what he likes to listen to and stop bitching about it. Good looks on coming off like a complete dick.

what happened to hip hop thats just good... it doesn't have to try to be intellectual political hipster backpack college rap ... and it also doesn't need to be a dude with dreads drooling on a microphone (plus adlibs).
Err, intellectual political hip hop has been around explicitly since at least Public Enemy. I agree though, thinking's overrated. Guns, bitches, bling and getting crunk in the club is what hip hop has always been about.
Not true. Originally, at least from the MC's perspective. Hip hop was about a DJ finding the best MC so they could hype up the DJ better, and that's where the hiphop mc comes from.

"It's an illusion," says Skrillex, tetchily, in response to the general criticism. "You can get 200 people bitching about me in a chat room or you can get 100,000 people dancing to every single drop I play. All ego aside, that's just the truth, you know what I mean?

"They can go bicker and waste their lives... You know what I mean? Good for them. Be purists."

Not really. There's plenty of people with that mindset. But either way, touche.
