eldoogle wrote:@ mthrfnk - The break sounds good to me. It's a thick intro so I understand why the drums aren't in your face. Drop sounds really good now that I'm listening through headphones, before it was monitors. I'm not sure if it would work but you could turn down the high synth in the intro part w/ the break so that the break shines through more. Or leave it, it's up to you. It's funny you say a double time section would work because I tried a dnb switch up and deleted it. I'll try the double time though.
Yeah it definitely sounds better than the plain kick, I think I needs to analyze the main frequencies of the break and dip them on the main chord synth to try and give the break some more punch. And yeah I definitely think some form of tempo switch would work for you man.
darkdubz wrote: mthrfnk the amen sounds mean bro, maybe just a lil harsh thou, really dig this tune bro, would be keen for a 30 when its done.
I think because I've filtered the drums in, when the cymbals get filtered in my compressor kind of fucked up and made them really harsh for the remainder of that loop - I'll try and sort that. Probably finish it off tomorrow and chuck a 320 on SC for download. As for your track - the intro is sick, your alternative percussion sounds really nice - the drop is sweet too. I like the sped up beat too, along with the vocal samples you've thrown around. Tight track man, I don't really have any suggestions apart from maybe some panned out neurofunk style hihats.

@wearecorsairs: Nice intro, sound's more developed than your other track. The piano is really nice, I think you should consider changing your main synth though, it sounds too generic. One other thing I noticed is when the piano kicks back in at 1:20ish, it sounds like some out of key notes are getting hit, but that might just be me :P

Heres a vocal clip I've just been playing with, I've never done any real vocal editing but to me it sounds better than the original (minus the 15/20 seconds at the start which I know how I messed up) - I'm waiting to see if the original singer minds me using it in some form of track.

sounds pretty cool man, you should try adding some more harmonies, i think it would sound better if her voice wasn't so boxy, let up the EQ a bit. (if you can).

something we're gonna start re-working again tomorrow (my hard drive crashed before christmas & i just recovered all the midi).

@FluidMoShun - That's glitchy to fk! I love it.

@wearecorsairs - Sounds like the trumpets (are they trumpets at the start?) need a little reverb maybe? Is a key out at 1:26 or is that intentional? I'd like to hear it with some live drums though I'm very fond of the live stuff.

@darkdubz - Sick as always bro. That bassline though, someone else has used that on a track haven't they? I like the variation though. That one shot bass that comes in is gritty as fk!

Some chillout Dubstep I started tonight. Unfinished, a lot to do, but take a listen.

@mtrhfnk: The vocal thing's cool, reminds of Random Rab. And by subbass pick ups I meant sub bombs where the pitch glides up to a note instead of down indefinitely.

@wearecorsairs: Sorry to hear about your hard drive.. That's got to be my worst fear. Interesting ideas, but hard to give proper feedback with the stock synths =\ Misshelsinki is really nice, tho. Try adding some pfunk style vibrato to the synth at 1:15 (no vibrato at the start, increases the longer the note plays).

@dardubz: The chopper sound is quality. I like how you applied it to the white noise and the bass.

Worked on the mixing some, but I think I might have made it worse lol.. tips on mixing techniques are appreciated :) I tried to better integrate that bass you were talking about mthrfnk... I also cut out some of the overlapping parts to get rid of muddiness.

@ gv1 - I think your intro could use a build up or a notification that the drop is coming. Other than that nothing much to say. Did you give feedback to three others?

@Fluidmotion I can hear what your going for but its just not coming through. Everything sounds cool its just not orginized enough yet, but I like the ideas and the backbeat alot.

@GVI, intro sounds nice interesting choice of notes. I like it I say keep going with it add some big sweeps. The snare sounds a little too metallic maybee layer it? IDK melodies are really nice of course.

@mthrfunk, I like the tribal feel of the vocal it sounds good. Cant wait to hear it in a finished track. Your not singing right? I didnt think so....

anyways heres an 8 bar loop I threw together with Native Instruments new synth Skanner. I like it much, just wanted to show off and up for ideas. Again its only an 8 bar loop guys.

When you say its not coming thru, do you mean the mix or the structure or something else? Also how do you recommend I improve organization? My current song organization is 8 bar intro, 24 bar main part, 8 bar transition/bridge, 24 bar 2nd main part, 8 bar intro reprisal, 24 bar main part

Fluidmoshun, I was talking about the micro, not your arrangement, you have a glitch aphex squarepusher edge and I was refering to that. Just to let it flow more like in jazz where the solo just emerges perfectlly. I really like what your doing in the B section around 2:10 or so. Just the beginning fills and fraps sound rythmically uneven in that your accents were on the wrong beats with the wrong sound, everything was there but it wasnt hitting with a flo, its not a put down to do it good takes a good imagination and skill as a producer to let go, tell me if any of this is making any sesnse. Will ya?

peace

By orginized I was meaning phrases that make sense, and dont worry I have plenty that make no sense what so ever, but if you listen to Skrillex (even if you hate him) his parts go 1 2 3 4 or 1 3 2 4 and make sense to the ear like someone repeating a scentence. Thats what where all after really trying to make the music speak.

Fluidmoshun - buzzy tune, i agree with paradgim , all the sounds are cool as fuck, you just need to work on your structure , it al sounds a bit messy at the mo, and the drums could be a bit more in ya face,

Daftend - pretty sweet production bro, intro is cool ; digging the synth work bro, sort of like a house/skrillex sound ( hope you don't mind me saying that LOL) production is tops bro!! nice bass sounds and use of space.

RandoRando - the drums in the intro are a bit harsh to start with. nice intro thou bro, like the box man, sick drop and great production keep at it bruva.

another one from me, sorry to keep posting new tracks, but i'm working on heaps at the mo!

it's intentional, but i think it's the trumpet in the background which makes it sound so bad (sounds haunting, but ok when we play it normally).

@algebra - love the joker-esque chord. will be a wicked tune when it's finished! :W:

Ah I see. I like the track though, itching to hear the drums :p What kit you got btw? Or do you use a electronic drums? I'm stuck with using the abbey road stuff, but they do the job well playing live on the Maschine ( not the same as a kit I know ). I was hoping someone wouldn't say Joker :p Thanks for the comment though. Time to get out the bed pit and get back to working on it I think.

i've got a 6 piece pearl masters birch (studio) & a jobeky electronic kit (with some random drum machines/pads). we're gonna record all the stuff by mid february hopefully :)
we haven't put any guitar on any of our tunes yet either.

Tracks with atmosphere can get a bit difficult to expand without ruining the whole atmosphere as a whole. Defined the track structure, going to spend the next week or so working on the rest of it.

@darkdubz: love that dar-kist-un-named track! The kick is punchy, snare sounds great and that perc really fits there
@paradigm001: That synth sounds nice. The kick is little too quiet but it kinda like fits in there, mayde even better like that

So since my computer is fucked up and slow as hell, i started new project.
Just a tiny amount of eq and efects.

edit: I lost my presets settings so that i couldnt find the same settings that i had so i changed that synth :D I think this is better.
I created this like in 30 min but just wanted some feedback to see is there any reason to keep doing this track, or does it sound all crap even if i mix it better :D

You have reverb on that bass? I think the levels need to be mixed right. Some frequencies clashing. Not my kind of dubstep/brostep but I can see what you're trying to achieve.

A little chilled track from me, it needs mixing properly esp. the vocals which I'm tempted to play around with in Melodyne. Anyways I wrote it as sort an EP outro, not a full track.

Soundcloud

Again feedback here and comments/views/plays on SoundCloud are appreciated.

I'mm just about to go out - but I'll provide feedback for others when I'm back, most people know I'm a prolific feedback give :P

I'm digging this. Has a very 80's feel to it. There is something that clashes in the track at 0:47. I'd make the vocals stand out more personal. But I like this.
