misshelsinki reworked with a few different synths. not really looking for feedback, just i know some people liked the piano earlier in the thread.

Alright so I added more sub bass to the kick. Think it sounds better?

wearecorsairs - love the piano bro, a lot of different synths go together here
daftendirekt - the sub bass to the kick helps it out A LOT I would say grimy up that bassline just a tad, put a bit crusher or distortion on it slightly
started this today first track with logic

I does sound better with the sub bass, but for some reason it seems too loud. When I look at the levels on my mixer in Ableton it doesn't seem to loud at all but for some reason when I listen to it, it is all that I hear. Maybe it is because i've been stressing over making it sound better so much that its all I pay attention to.
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Maybe, have you eq'd the drums right? (and any feedback on mytrack? :S)

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
I really liked the EQing of my drums before I added the sub bass, but now I changed a few little things and I can't seem to get it sounding the same.
As to your track, I really like the chords at the beginning, and the beat. Sounds like it will be a very interesting track if completed.

@Subfect. really nice track man. only thing is that i'd like to hear those mid range growls and whatever rip though alot more. i think they lack energy. spot on apart from that in my opinion.
@darkdubz Sick mate. think the track is bangin. up until 1:36 anyway. for me, the change in drum pattern completely ruins it. its the sort of thing i would buy on vinyl but those drums would have stopped me. nice sound.
@stranger_sounds really feeling it mate. only thing i'd say is that the beeps/clicks could have a bit more "shine" if you know what i mean. they just seem a bit dull. Nice work
mikeyp Love the vibe of this. this could do with some powerful female vocals on i think. snare is weak, try layering it with one that has more low end to give it a bit of body. cool track.
MY BRAND NEW WIP.

@standby - thanks champ. I actually just updated it with the intro and extended stuff, fixed levels, there's a few more growlsl and stuff in there as well, some neurofunk style stabs to fill it out a bit more. Still sounds really empty though, having trouble making it feel "whole". Onto yours - those intro hits are bloody great. There's a couple there that really resonate with me. Where'd you find them? They sound synthesized? Bass sounds rather quiet, and snare needs a bit more oomph to really cut through, as the sample you've chosen is quite weak. Liking the detuned basses that come in every bar or so. Gated sounds are really nice. You've inspired me, great stuff

@daftendirekt I second the bitcrushing on the main bass line. Go deep resampling it, make it really gritty and rasp. About the EQ, the kick is fine, maybe just an adjusment on the sidechain compressor. The snare may need some work, it seems too open.
@Standby Damn that percussion loop is chill! Really loving the mood of the track. The snare also sounds pretty original, where did you get it? Maybe add a kick drum with more punch, a matter of taste I guess. Perhaps some eastern strings or more exotic percussion.
@mikeyp I think you should work on the drums and the mixdown. The synths are great but they are all over and the drums can't cut through it. Maybe that's what you are missing.
My latest track (out of two lol):

I feel like the kick drum could use a bit more of sidechain comp to cut through. Also, maybe increase the sub? Any tips on how to improve my intros? Just started producing and looking for feedback.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Been a while since I've popped my head in here, let's see what you guys are working with. (Disclaimer: I'm listening to all these with my cans, so my feedback might be kind of skewed)
@Hircine: Not sure what to suggest, but I agree that the intro needs some work. It's either too long or just needs some more.... something. Automate anything and everything you can, maybe toss some more FX in there. It seems like you're going for more of a chilled out tune so you might want to disregard this, but the drums could use some extra oomph to pop through the mix. Dig the second drop!
@Standby: Loving the percussion in this! Sub is awesome, that kinda-vocal-y synth is awesome, drums are awesome. I'd love to hear this when it's at full length!
@wearecorsairs: I know you didn't ask for feedback, but this is some love making shit here
@MikeyP: Dreamy vibes my man! Sensing some bassnectar influence in here, I like. I know you said you're gonna remix it so maybe you'll solve this then, but the snare could use some extra punch. Kick sounds spot-fucking-on though. Really liking this. Shouts from the 708
mthrfnk: well this is different! white noise might be a tad too loud in the beginning. love those stutters before the "drop." drums sound really nice, synth work is great. vocals around the 1:30 are fucking sick. nice work man!
========================
Alright alright alright, I'm on winter break and decided to open up Ableton for the first time all semester. Wanted to do something different, so I decided to try making a track at 110bpm. Like I said before, I'm only using headphones (speakers are at school) so the mix might be off, probably pretty heavy on the low end.
The drops seem a little repetitive, I want to spice those up with something. Enough fucking ranting, tear me apart fellas.

Thanks for the feedback. I confess that I'm tempted to stick some brostep drums there but (mind that I've been only producing for 5 months or so) that's not really seem with good eyes in the scene lol. Glad you liked the drops, was unsure about those.willryan042 wrote: ========================

About your tune, I'm really digging the 80s vibe on those drums. I'd say go for something more old school analog-ish drop wise, it would really fit with the song mood. Stick some analog fxs in there maybe? NI's Vintage Machines and Goldbaby have some great samples for that.

haha no problem man! that's exactly what i thought of when your main synth kicked in, and the almost trancey stabs support that too
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Hircine the great hunt - i like it. not too sure if more sidechaining is the answer. might just be worth tring to eq a little tighter. in my opinion the intro is fine although it could do with some vocals over it. just tighten stuff up and it'll be sweet i think. nice. Manbeast - really to far away from what i listen to to give you a decent bit of feedback
@willryan042 Crazy stuff man. i like the originality and what you've done with the sample. i'm not convinced that the filthier noises suit the essence of the track. to be honest i would strip down the drops and try a different approach. chill out a little bit. i think this could be a sik track though.
@mthrfnk vocal edit - cool melodies to work with. not sure if its the processing or the recording quality but it lacks clarity. i don't know if you'd be able to understand what she says if there was a track behind it. also the "beatboxing" is too piercing. maybe you could roll off some more low end on the vocals and then make the reverb less wet and filter the frequencies of the reverb. it sounds like i'm just sayin you're shit. i'm not... its just that it would be a shame to "fuck up" such decent vocals. what you do to them now will influence the track if you know what i mean.
@GV1 algebra - this one could be a banger. i really like where this one's going.make it more "shiny" and i think it would almost be there. really wanna hear the finished product!!

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Standby I only listened to your first WIP, it was really chill man and pretty sick! Could make the lead melody / synth, slightly louder, otherwise everything sits pretty nicely and the tracks pretty dope!
@Hircine The intros safe, but needs to finished like 8 or 16 bars sooner and the main melody needs to be filled out with some pads in the background, otherwise sounding nice!
@willryan really digging this, got some SICK vocal edits in here! And I think the drop could do with being a bit louder and with a slight bit more variation, otherwise DOPE track!
mmk, intro / drop for a song I'm working on, would love to get some opinions on what you think I should change / do! Should be relatively straightforward ;D
