being someone who is also sort of getting into this kinda sound, what labels would you say are similar to swamp? i mean i've been listening to some other stuff that's kind of similar but it doesn't seem to appeal to me as much so just wondering what you'd recommend since you run that blog and seem to know this sorta stuff lol
Haha, sorry man, forgot to check back on this thread, seems that a lot of people have responded with what I would've put already.

There's a few smaller labels with like, one or two releases that are pushing this sound, done well or otherwise. My point was that as this sound that Swamp have started pushing gets bigger and more people jump on it, there's gonna be some people that do it better than the swamp releases and some that don't, it just takes away from the impact it had.

3024 was a good shout, Jon Convex - Convexations is a quality release, especially Falling Again. Nonplus too, Instramental - Thomp/When I Dip especially (in terms of the newer releases), Hessle is always solid. There's a label called Hot N Heavy that is pushing pretty solid stuff too, especially people on there like Mak & Pasteman and Tanka. Check out Bwana's free EP on Infinite Machine. All City Ireland has some big releases too, especially Tessela's.

MASSIVE PLUG TIME. For people that like the swamp sound, you might be interested in the next release by my net label, Apple Bottom - Forget It/Ur Touch. Out on wednesday, name your price download. You can grab it here from wednesday: http://night-tracks.bandcamp.com/album/ ... -forget-it

I thought that recent Doubleheart - Salsa / Ache release was pretty hot, especially ache. decent dance vibes. When I Dip is of course a tune that everyone should have in their collection

Should note that this is a much more techno-orientated label. if you're a fan of swims then I suggest you check this one out.

Clek-clek boom definitely, Hugz is a wicked track

ok so far i've just been listening to random bits that i've heard and i just feel like there's a ridiculous amount of music that i've been ignoring for ages, gonna take me ages to catch up with all this shit, what if there's something amazing that i've missed! transport EP by om unit has definitely been the standout bit that i've listened to so far and also all of the numbers stuff i've listened to but it's quite exciting dipping into a new area of music (in a really sad way...)

surprised apple pips hasnt been mentioned yet... everyone needs to have the arkist release. fill your coffee deffo one of the best tracks of 2011 imo

Big! :Q: I've got a few pieces cut that I've put out, but can't afford to put out vinyl yet. Definitely a plan for the future though.

I thought about mentioning Apple Pips, but then couldn't think of a release that fitted the Swamp sound. How could I forget that Arkist release? Rendezvous is a massive track.

Lol yeah, I'm in the same boat as you are mate.
The sound never really interested me until recently so yeah, I've got a lot of catching up to do haha. Bummed I missed out on most of it.
Whilst I'm a big fan of a lot of Swamp 81 releases, I always feel like there's somebody out there doing that style better. It's hard to explain. Maybe it's just that a lot of the tunes get seriously rinsed months before they come out that the tunes lose their effect on me. Swims for example. I've bought it, but I think I'd have to leave it some months before I started playing it, whereas I hadn't really heard much of "Music Deep Inside" and I'm really feeling that at the mo. Same with "Work Them" when it came out.

Like I said, hard to explain the feeling that I have about Swamp. Don't take this as a knock though, still think it's one of the most consistently quality labels out there. Maybe it's the fact that they were a really figurehead in the 130-135 movement that has started, and now that sound seems to be everywhere, its lost its impact. I'm rambling anyway haha.

Big up to Loefah and everyone else involved.
Totally get what you mean though, I kinda have the same. Sicko Cell is also a good example, I bought it, but just before it got released literally every dj was playing it and when it finally came out it kinda lost it impact for me already. Still a big tune though, but I dont think I will ever get that feeling again that I had the first time I heard it.

After sicko cell I havent really bought any of the swamp releases, maybe because of that, i dont know, but now that Ive heard their newer releases I can say that that was a big mistake haha.
Only 2 swamp plates Ive got right now are sicko cell and badman, gotta stoxk up on those other ones as well soon! (Too bad the mean streets ep is sold out everwhere already)

i waited quite a while to get sicko cell, for the very reason posted above. it was a gamble, but i was pretty sure it wouldnt sell out, and by the time id got it, it would be just as fresh as when it was being cained in the dance.

as far as "fill your coffee" goes, i normally use that when im playing 140 stuff, give its a nice break :)
