Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Not been on DSF for a while and have started messing about with Ableton, came here for some tips and have ended up listening to some tunes. Love the fact that there's other stuff in other than [INSERTSUBGENRE]step as well.
@Standby - Really nice man, proper murky sounds there and cleanly produced. Reminds me of some early Moving Shadow / Formation stuff.
@Hircine - S'alright that. Decent growling bass, my only criticism would be it all sounds a bit 'bunched up' if you get my drift. Needs more space in there perhaps? Snare could also do with a tad more crack
@Subfect - Love it. If that was released as part of an EP I'd be all over it.
@darkdubz - Got skills man, forgot I was listening to a WIP whilst browsing the forum.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
ScarletCyanide : cool idea, needs some better mixing, in terms of composition i think it needs development, e.g. on 14th second you introduce one more sound that has a lot of character it starts to "steel" space of the lead, but at the same time 2 overclashing instruments can give some good rhytmic ideas, play around with it, but they cant sound together at one time and forget about side chan comperssion if you just thought "ill use that" ))) It never works for that sort of mixing problems, and I would suggest divide all instruments (not only in your head) in 3 groups , sub 0- 75 hz, middle 90-125, and everythig elese 200- whatever, let that information be the starting point, because i believe bass in your tune has too much treble and the high pitch instruments dont get their deserved loudness either. Or may be im just talking bullshit, dont let anyone break your spirit ) keep up the good work ))) !
wearecorsairs : Sounds good, the vocals did its job ))) Needs proper ending. Like it, honestly no advices for you sir
Standby : very cool stuff , is that what people call "normal dubstep" ? ) I have absolutley no experience in producing such music, but it sounds serious ) !
EFEKZ : I love it in terms of sound an rythmicly it is already structured, but it lacks something, I would suggest either add something on top, either in betweens the phrases, like just before you finish one long phrase like you do on 58 second, there could have been a stab or so. im not saying it needs "changes" jut corrections because "naked" structured track is apparently not enough, dont forget I say all that from my point of view and dont forget that I DID say I like it )))

Acid and juke / footwork style beats - thinking of adding some jungle choppage on the acid and more breakbeats into there

I don't think I'm qualified to give opinions, cause everything here sounds pretty good to me. But yeah this is like, halfway finished. Any criticism or suggestions would be really appreciated, I'm new to this
also after the second drop I plan on mixing things up, just copied that to see how the drop would sound.

feeling the synth but the reverb on the elements throughout the track are a bit overwhelming. THANKS FOR ALL THE FEEDBACK. IT IS APPRECIATED
@Hero @TIETEX @mrmorris @thisisnot @wearecorsairs @EFEKZ if you want feedback then give at least 3 people feedback EVERY POST. read the first post.
@TIETEX any opinion is valid mate. just say what you think
@alexeyhermann Thanks man. haha, not sure if there is such a thing. there used to be imo but i wouldn't say the track sounds much like it. fuck. made me think for a second there lol. sick idea man. Everything from 1.13 is pure gold if you ask me. Likewise, not my preferred style. but i still fuckin love it. only thing that bothered me was the reverb on the snare. sounds really distant. if it were me i'd make it a touch less wet and/or roll or notch a bit more low end out of the reverb. nicely done mate.
@ScarletCyanide Thanks for the feedback. I agree with alexeyhermann. I would layer up your snare because it doesn't have much body. it needs some lower frequency hits to beef it up i think. also, as soon as it drops i would have the snare on the 3rd beat of the bar. its what people are used to for this genre but obviously its your track. i think you could probably get it dirtier without ruining it if you're careful with a bit of distortion. cool track.
@mthrfnk emergence - nice. i reckon you could do so much to this if you changed up the bass notes after the drums kick in properly. the playground sample or whatever it is is bang on. it wa sthat in the background that kept me listening at first. nice touch. just tighten up some of the EQ and i think you're onto a winner
MY 3 WIPS.....FEEDBACK ON ANY WILL BE APPRECIATED (PLS. MENTION WHICH ONE)

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Guys, you really need to be posting feedback before posting your own - irrelevant to your skill level, whether you've posted feedback before.etc. 3 rounds MINIMUM of feedback before posting your own, thanks.
@crewcutz - intro seemed a bit long/drawn out. I think the bass is way too slow for the beat. If you want to keep the bass, wind the beat back a bit by removing some of the hits. Kick/snare combo is quite nice tbh, I dig em. Maybe add a little saturation though? Also good to see a more complete wip shown here
@standby - on focus, I really like the kick/snare and beat in general. I think it needs more though - a little more midrange, possibly double-time to really pick up the tune. Great basis you got, just lacking a little I think. Nicely mixed as well. I'd probably drop the purply sound as I don't think it fits, but that's a creative subjective point, so take it however
Fractal is nice, feels much more complete than focus. Let's do a collab soon man when you get time - hit me up on aim: phybian
@alexeyhermann - I think you need to do some more EQ so that the channels all fit a little more snug together, there appears (sounds like) a lot of clashing going on with the various elements, and this is evident right from the start. Some really good variations, keeps the user interested. I really like the glitched-style orchestral strings you've added also. Lot of stuff going on, without it feeling cluttered. Good work
Update to Void - intro complete, snare dropped a few decibels, more eq done to provider a cleaner mix.

@darkdubz you badmanm diggin the un named track, sounds really clean mixdown wise. only thing i can advise would be workin on the transitions a bit more but im sure you will be doing that already
@standby diggin the dark ambient like vibes and the space you created with the sounds, just needs to be worked on more imo (transitions mainly + fatter sub) [standby strobe]
[fractal] diggin this tune alot, especially the percussion! keep workin on this
[focus] another one that sounds awesome, just put some more work into and im sure you will come up with a nice track
@Hircine make some small changes every 8 or 16 bars in the intro, throw some more fx to the synth bass such as reverb or filters
@willryan042 sub is nice, mixdown sounds pretty good on my comp, just fix the drops and maybe some more percussion to give it a more swing feel?
@scarletcyanide try to make some changes in the sound. For example, you used the bassline from the intro up till the drop. More percussion and work on the mixdown
@Efekz got a cool vibe going with them sounds, mixdown sounds nice and im really diggin the sound of the bassline. my suggestions would be throw some background noise like pads and shit or vocals, fill up the noise (percussion too).
@alexeyhermann work on the structuring a bit, panning used was pretty cool also. The track itself is not really my cup of tea but its a good start
@crewcutz dnb vibes! try throwing some reverb on different aspects of the track to create some space for the first track. The second track i suggest workin on the structurin a bit, diggin the automation on the bassline.
@subfect got them deep vibes on this one, don't know if you are going for the minimal approach but you can try to add more percussion or just fatten up the hats you have now alittle imo. good track so far
ez trying to finish more tracks this year around since i have a gazillion projects and i want to make some releases for once lol
looking for any advice and opinions on this current WIP, especially on the mixdown (soundcloud seems to fuck up the sub sound for some reason but it sounds good on my computer).
transitions still need work and currently in search for some vocal samples
Soundcloud
cheers
ps: non contributors need to read the rulez

The guides on this thread are there for a reason - without them it doesn't work. Show a little respect to those who actually like to make this thing work, or don't post

@bola - thanks for that. How would you suggest that I fatten them up? I am going for a minimal approach, but it's a bit too empty atm, I think. Loving those whompy basses - has a nice metallic feel to them. Kick/snare is awesome. Kick especially - really nice and punchy. Sub work is on-point. Also love the dub-style stabs that come in every now and then. Good stuff dude, +follow
