a newbie comes with his first track

Post by oak7 » Mon Jan 09, 2012 4:59 pm

Hi all. Actually I never planned to do ANY kind of electronic music. But there comes THE dubstep, and now i don't even imagine world without it. So there's my first track, which i did after a couple tutorials. I know that mastering is bad and there's no good bassline. But, anyway, check it out. Few friends said that they like it. Thanks!

Hi,

Quite nice in a brostep style: You can ear much poorer things here which are not first attempts!
Some things:
This snare on right side, you should put some different stereo on it: it is quite annoying here alone, and it would go well with the one which is already "stereoed".
Change this "coconut" tick at the beginning, when I heard that I was like "this will be bad!"...
That's right, some more sub could be good.
Last advice: I'm afraid that what you call "The" Dubstep is just A Dubstep... If you want to know what is the dubstep, you may have a better idea by checking the artists of the dubstepforum awards... there you'll have THE dubstep ;-)

Good job, continue!

Yer try and stay from the obvious build ups unless you do them well but the drop
just come out of knowhere

I like the synth work in this one... Kick and snare dont come through enough needs to
be layered up a few more times

Finally someone replied! Yep, now i know what's the difference between "brostep" and usual dubstep. I like them both alot! I like brostep because of it's "high-frequency-wobbles" or i don't know how to call it. And i love normal dubstep for it's basslines. But, you know, when you are a beginner, you don't actually put too much effort into your first tune, because you will never know that it will become a actual tune. So i just played random minor melody, and here you are! Few aggresive wobbles, secondary melody, few effects (yeah, i messed up with that coconuts, but it still sounds not too bad for me) Voila! I have a some kind of a creepy tune brostep! It actually took me about 6 hours to make (2 days spare time) So i don't know if it's long or short time of producing that "easy" dubstep. The hat ( or snare ) on the left was an audio sample which was "left canal ready" and for the right one.. I forgot what to use in ableton, to put something more left or right (Like you see, i still didn't know how to describe that) So probably i was too lazy to do some more work, because tried to do it for fun, but it sounded good to me! So, i was excited, and uploaded it right that second after listening to final mix. Will try to make something better next time.

Thank you for your answer! You really helped me, because all i could hear from anyone else was "very good for a first track".
Cheers
